A day on the range adn things learned with Raptor Mini

Testing the Reg. as Travis of JSAR made it. It is the prototype.and is no my Raptor Mini is phenomenal. Unreal power and shot count..

I installed the same barrel that was in my Rainstorm II and it instantly gave way over 100 fps more. Add to that, it cut the air use by almost 3 X.

I shot for hours this afternoon, and used 650 psi shooting at 72 fpe over 350 bullets, in the .223 barrel. Sizes slugs to .218

Never, and I mean NEVER has the RS done anywhere near this in performance in accuracy, Shot Count, FPE. Never!

Travis tells us it is an improvement over his original design. Holy Moly folks, This is truly a huge leap forward in airGunning.

Now for a few tech tidbits. Tarvis and I decided to start the bullet shooting at full on hammer spring for full power. Tday, I changed all that.

I backed the hammer spring out 1/2 turn knowing full well that all my other AirGuns respond immediately to a 1/8th in either direction.

to my pleasing shock, 1/2 turn out did nothing. And I mean nothing!

I went 1/2 out again, nothing, 1/2 agai, Nothing What the ----?

I kept this up util 6 adn 1/2 turns out adn at 6 and 1/2 turns out, it dropped from 910 to 880. Perfect for Air Use.

The trigger became very responsive, (Remember, mine is a prototype and not as refined in the trigger as the second generation compared to myne with only 2 adjustment screws). Now Travis has designed and making a third Gen. and it is loaded with adjustments and better sear engagement, making fo ran even more Highly Refined "Match Grade Trigger!

For fun, I Decided to try shooting right handed. I shoot left master eyed, so this was an eye opener. LOL

Someone ask for larger shot count groups than 5 so here they are, One at 50 yards, and one at 80 yards. Yes, I touched off the trigger a little early on a couple of them. Easy enough to spot. Really not use to shooting a rifle right handed at all. LOL

My Little Raptor Mini is Very Nice. Yours will be NICER!

Just remember, this Mini was Travis's low power pellet shooting Truck Gun! And handled by a lot of people, Including being used in the Videos
WHEW!!! Just WOW! ;) ;D  8) Low power Pellet Shooter My Eye! +2

Centercut, it a Scott 60 min. Usually referd to a 88 CF Tank.

the barrel is not a Rainstorm barrel, rather a barrel I originally fitted to the RS. It is a Brownell's gunsmithing Supply Barrel liner. It is the same same dia as an FX liner for an Impact.

It is listed as a .22 short barrel, at 1-20 twist. I tried the 1-16 recommended for LR slugs by weight and length, but I was not happy with the results. Once again, the calculators don't tell the entire story.

It is 19 1/2" long, and It fit the raptor just fine. It has two thick walled twill pattern CF tubes attached, and I will be adding a third CF tube to bring it to over 3/4" in dia. Very stiff, but does not use the Tensioned Barrel System the Raptors have. Which I would prefer. The Rainstorm factory barrel is 17 Inch and 14-1. Too fast!.

Travis is sourcing two TJ's in slug configuration for it now. I have several TJ's in different Cal's here, and will be fitting a .172 very soon! They will all be tensioned.

I have had excellent results with the TJ's.

I have worked with TJ's in the past, and use several now as well. Very accurate barrels ;<).

Frank, that sure is a nice group! Nice!!!

Ghost,i t is due to patented valve system. The valve is like nothing else on the market. It is a fully balanced system that requires much less hammer energy, less cocking effort. (A LOT less) and the valve is shut quickly stopping power and shot count robbing over dwelling of the valve.

I well remember a few well known experts saying that it could not possibly work. However, they were delighted to test and find that it not only worked, but exceeded all exceptions and claims. It really is something unique and special.

There is a full and detailed explanation as to how it works on the GTA, but I must admit, it is above my pay grade of understanding so far.

Embarrassed, yep. Happy? Ecstatic!

Very nice Knife. I had requested more shots per group. Thank you.

I posted this out of my Raptor a few days ago, but it seems it got buried in my ongoing review. Nowhere near the power yours is putting out, and only 55 yards, but sure put a smile on my face that day.

Lots of potential with these Raptors.

Oh my my,

A raptor in .20 is on my priority list for 2020 for sure!!! I saw the video of your gun getting tested before it shipped and was so impressed....iv been a .20 cal junkie for years and have never found just the right PCP in that caliber. But thinking the wait is over...lol. I have a huge stash of ammo including some of the new heavies.

Motorhead is testing one in .20 for FT comp now. ;<)

Another very important advantage of the new valve system, is the effect of the hammer being released, and valve stem stuck is so much lighter. It is almost as if it is a comparison between a springer and a pcp only now the comparison is between the Raptors valve cycle and a conventional pcp. It is that noticeable.

The shot cycle is so much less disturbed by the firing action. Lending itself to a much cleaner, and less accuracy robbing shot cycle.

This new system. will really make a lot of long range slug shooters very happy. Not to mention precision pellet shooters at typical AG ranges.

This and two other innovations in the Raptors are in my mind, really going to give them an edge in serious precision shooing and competition.

Knife, how does it shoulder for you with a scope on it? It's real hard for me to try and figure out where the center of gravity is from looking at photos / videos.

I'm thinking real hard about getting a mini and the HP. I have a bunch of barrels that I can swap around them too, what's the barrel O.D. needed for the mini?

Thanks 😎

Franklink nailed it. 1/2" or a little over 12mm

MTG;

My cg is dead on the Picatinny rail under the gun. It is short as it is the Mini. By adding a longer barrel a500 cc bottle it moved it forward a tough. I have never handled the full size. so not sure, but will eventually.

Travis is sending a different buttock. A standard Mil. Spec M-16/16 unit. which I am very used too. This will move it rearward a bit.
