A Dynamic Duo

No, not the Batman and Robin dynamic duo but a pair of PCPs built on the Dynamic block.

I bought the .22/700mm FX Panthera as a bench rifle with no intention of hunting with it. Last year I gave hunting permission to the local lads and they had the squirrels so spooked I couldn't get within 60 yards of them. Enter the Panthera as the long range sniper and I had plenty of squirrels for the pot.

This year I added a .22/600mm FX DRS to the gun cabinet and have been very pleased with it.

As a duo tag-team, I use the DRS as my light weight stalking rifle in the morning when the leaves are quiet and the Panthera in evening for long range shooting when the leaves are too noisy to walk in.

These PCPs are about as opposite as you can get but they really compliment each other well.

Cheers!

I live in Canada where moderators are illegal. ☹️

The two PCPs are not overly loud for their power. Typical, as compared to my other PCPs.

That being said, the Panthera at 60 to 80 yards is "less disturbing" to the other squirrels in the area and the squirrel being targeted doesn't run away. 😉

Even if I could add a moderator, I plan on detuning the DRS from it's current 30 fpe to 18-20 fpe which is plenty for sub 40 yard shooting. I'm getting a bout 33 shots on a fill (plenty for a hunt) but lower power should increase the shot count which is better when plinking - and that should make it a bit more backyard friendly at the same time.

Cheers!
