A hunting springer/gas rammer

Hello guys,
I am looking for a fairly accurate springer/gas rammer that will be suitable for hunting small game and doing some pest control, as there are lots of birds here. I've been thinking of buying Walther LGV in .177, but it only generates 12 fpe of energy and I don't think that's enough for hunting. I am not a power freak, but I do think that an airgun has to be more powerful than that. I am not looking for a PCP. What has worked for you?

Thanks. :)

My father and I both have Hatsan 125 snipers in .25 cal and they are doing 25-27 ft lbs. Using H&N hunter extremes, we both have no problems hitting our mark out to 40-45 yards. We both have taken several rabbits and squirrels with them. They are heavy, and take a little bit to get them cocked, but that being said my dad is 74 and he has no problem with it. They do require good technique and the artillery hold is a must other wise the accuracy will be all over the place.

Yes, I am surprised how accurate this gun is considering it is a .25 cal Magnum springer. I would say that 3/4" at that range would not be a problem. Correct pellet for it is key as some will be all over the place. I can take squirrels all day long at 40 yards with it and my dad took a pigeon at 55 yards, but we both think there was some luck with that one . I would say the hunter extreme are the best pellet that my dad and I have found. but I have heard that some people have good luck with JSB Kings as well. I should probably say that I have the vortex version as I know they make them both in spring and gas ram.
If you google refurbished Hatsan 125 you will be able to save yourself about $80.

I will second the Hatsan 125. I have a 135 (same innards, but with a walnut stock and no suppressor) in .22, and it continues to impress me. I would also second the Vortex piston route for a hunting gun, and I would highly advise you to seek out a model with a suppressor. Without it, it's LOUD. Mine tends to be pretty pellet-friendly, but they aren't all so. As far as accuracy, I managed to take a rabbit at 70 yards with a body shot. I'm still not entirely sure how that happened, but it did. I prefer to use it with a peep sight and remove the front fiber optic rod to use the empty posts as a ghost ring. I'm partial to .22 for my hunting rifles, as I can find pellets for it locally while retaining a good 25+ ft/lbs.

I am surprised those magnum springers can be so accurate. Where I live pretty much everyone hates Hatsan 125 Sniper, but I've always wanted to get one. People do say it's inaccurate, but there's a lot of gossip about everything on the market. People hate everything. Is it actually true that their parts are made of German steel? Some say that's marketing and I agree to some extent. Hatsans are relatively cheap rifles.
