A lighter scope

Ah the holy grail. The scope that has everything you want while being light as a feather. I spent a long time searching for a light scope that was decent. There aren't many that are suitable for air guns.

The only one I could find that was actually light and focused down to 10 yards was the Clearidge Ultra RM but that is only a 3-9. It is clear though. the Clearidge 4-14 is 19oz so not that light.

Let us us know of you find something. All of the Leupold lightweight scopes I looked at only focused down to 25 yards which was no good for me.

Yes, the Leupold scopes are not perfect for airgun use, but were the lightest I found for their capabilities. I may end up sending mine to the Leupold Custom Shop, where they can modify many parameters, including the focus range. Custom tweaking does cost, though. My $400 scope could end up costing me closer to $600 if I have the reticle changed and the focus changed.

Yeah the custom shop costs and the lack of useful info on their products put me off all Leupold scopes forever. They aren't for air guns.

I don't see why we should have to pay $200 extra to add features that are included for free in scopes 1/5 of the price.

"Oregun"I have a Leupold VX2 3-9X33 EFR with CDS and Wind-Plex reticle... it focuses down to 10yrds and is super light at 11.5oz. Great glass and by far My favorite airgun scope! It's mounted on my Wildcat. Every couple months, Optics Planet runs the 10% discount coupon. For the money, I think it's the best quality, light weight scope out there.

Really... Opinion reversed. That sounds awesome. All is forgiven Leupold. I'm going to check it out.

that sounds like a genuine alternative to the Clearidge Ultra RM.

"Oregun"The Leupold is on sale. 6 models, 3 of which are EFR (adjustable AO, focus down to 10yrds), Made in Oregon... $399
The model that I have is 120617. Check it out

Are you sure that scope goes down to 10 yards? The Leupold custom shop people told me it didn't go down anywhere near 10 yards which was why I gave it a miss. It's possible I was told wrong but where did you hear it goes to 10? Or do you own that scope?

Zebra, I'm 100% positive they go down to 10 yds. As I stated in a couple of posts, I do own this scope. Only the EFR models focus that low. They're springer rated as well.

Thanks. That's so annoying as I really wanted to try one of those and I only didn't because I was given bad info.

How is the light transmission on those? I read it's pretty good for the tube size and price range.

I've posted pics of mine on one of my FWB 300s. I just went out and taped off 25ft. (33ft is as close as I shoot but just wanted to check how close). That's a rimfire EFR 3X9 33mm and its close to as bright as my other larger Leopold scopes. I did try to take a pic thru the scope but my note4 was not happy with that. And it does have 10 stamped on the AO adjust ring. Anyway I could read the small print on the bottom of a shipping box at 25ft like I was holding it in my hand.

"mrjohns"I like the Hawke air max4-12x50. It is 13" long and weighs 1lb 5 oz.. The AMX crosshairs with mildots are perfect for air gun. You can get it at optics Planet for 182.69 and free shipping. I bought one yesterday 11/29/2016 and it already shipped. I should be here Friday ir Saturday.
That's not light at all. He said he wanted a light scope. The Lueopold being discussed is 8oz and 11oz (depending on the model).
