Hey guys, maybe someone has had this happen and can point me in the right direction. Got my compressor back in September and I have only used it 4 times to top off my tanks. I put compressor oil # 46 as instructed the day I got it. Ran it for about 20 minutes with really cold water flowing from my pool (endless supply). Before running the second time I changed the oil just to be safe. Has worked flawless until today. It started leaking out of the oil breather tube and not building any pressure. If I cover the breathing tube it does start to build pressure. Just looked at the oil and it’s really dark too. Not even half hour on that oil. I have looked at the flap valve and it did have some carbon but not much. Also looked at the other check valve with the spring and it is also good. I have time to take things apar and not afraid to do so. I usually shoot about 300 pellets a day and pumping is getting old for me. Any inputs of where to look at? Thanks in advance

Several questions. 1. any temp problems ? 2. any air coming from the release valve area when it is closed?
As far as the oil breather tube getting wet or foggy, that is very normal. They all push a lot of mist out there and eventually it gets pretty messy. You do not want to pressurize the crankcase. I actually broke off my breather cap by over tightening it trying to eliminate that mist problem. Now I just clean it up often.
What is really sounds like is either the rings are no longer good or something has happened to the second stage piston. It is very easy to pull that second stage head and look. There have been some problems of the second stage piston shaft breaking. Hope this helps.

Look at the check valve spring at the outlet between the 1st and 2nd stages. It's in the outlet fitting right next to the pressure gauge, it might be broken. If the spring is broken, you can simply go to Lowes and get a Hillman/Resorte/Ressort set of 4 springs, 5/16"x1-1/2x .020" for maybe 3 bucks. Barcode is 38902 00238. I've been using one of the springs in my yong heng check valve for over a year with no problems.
