A New Wolf Rises

Always interesting when a new gun comes out but ANOTHER missed opportunity in the airgun world to engineer a more robust way to hold a barrel to a receiver rather than crushing a brass chamber extension(swing and a miss as well) with two steel grub screws.

Other than that pretty cool and definitely preferable to a liner system.
Someone suggested the Evol could be this expensive too with the SubMOA barrel.

I hope Tom gives himself a bulk discount on EVOL HPS barrels, lol, and passes the savings onto us.

Before my love affair starts to show, I have a complaint I want to address and maybe that's why I'm single on Valentine's Day lol. I didn't know I had a pet peeve until Daystate started doing this. For their laminate and walnut stocks, why don't they cut out the cheek piece/comb out of the same stock? Maybe cost cutting measures in case Minelli messes up when they drill for the height adjustment rods? I see FX, RAW, AAA, and other companies using the same cheek piece at around the same or lower prices. I can understand using a black plastic cheek piece for the Carbon Grey version and Safari versions because of the textured stock. It's just one of those things that's starting to bug me especially at the price point.

Maybe due to the oil and sweat from our faces.

I agree. The butt area of this stock is butt ugly. Anothe thing they miss was designing a high capacity magazine. Seem's we're stuck with those 13 shot things.

I tried to cut the cheek piece out on a BR rifle, and to install a adjustable hardware system, then found it difficult as well as time consuming. I wanted to use a thin blade to remove as little material as possible so the cheek piece would match up well with the corresponding cut out but the thin blade was hard to control. LOL, not great results.

So I'm guessing the solution DS chose has less of an attrition rate and is both faster and easier because the polymer is molded to accept the hardware.

It looks like it will be a very competitive gun, and the base price is about $2399. Not sure why I see grumbling about the DS guns with regard to price, but not a peep about the Thomas or AAA, both of which are more expensive. Let see how this new gun does at the range before we start grinding it down...

I am really hoping it’s successful. Competition is good for the industry. I just wish it was more attainable for the masses. From the specs it doesn’t possess more than what is currently out there but it sure is sexy looking.
