A nothing year for anything new

Really seeing nothing that floats my boat at this year's Shot Show. Kalibergun Semi Auto and possibly the shotgun Umarex is showing is about the only somewhat unique products I see. Adding a tactical stock to an existing product doesn't count as anything new imo.

The Skout air rifle that operates on 800 psi looks interesting. Seems like a great way to better utilize more of our stored air if they perform similarly to what we’re accustomed to shooting. However, I’m not excited about the idea of an electronic trigger on the gun. Someone sent me a link to a video interview where Skout guns were discussed. I didn’t pay attention to too much of anything else that came out of the Shot Show. I have enough of what I need and most of what I want to keep me plenty busy.

As for tactical stocks, I’ve been wondering something - why is this even a thing? Can someone explain to me what advantage this sort of configuration brings to air gunning? I was thinking at best it can lighten a gun’s weight and make it easy to add cool-looking modular accessories, but what real practical purpose does a tactical build serve on an airgun?

Cool looking maybe, some like em some don't. Practical YES it is "the thing" with a chassis system if that is designed into it.

Although wood stocks can come with adjustable cheek piece and LOP, it is more common these are offered in chassis systems <. Plainly put if a gun fits the shooter correctly that person will shoot better.

Chassis systems can also be made very light weight but that is the exception.

For Bench, PRS or NRL, these competitors like a heavier gun because it staves off recoil and gun movement and for the latter the gun sits on the bag steadier.

I have a chassis system that has an adjustable fore and aft hand grip which helps me put my trigger finger in the "just right" place on the trigger. This handgrip is also perfect for hands, its nice feeling and at the best feeling angle for me. It also has flushcup quick detach sling swivel mounts. These attributes, among the ACP and LOP are why I purchased it. I could mount various accessories off my chassis but currently I only use the pic mount to attach a bipod. = Have and not need vs need and not have....

Blah blah blah all of your posts have become toxic.

Highly childish comment ! Another person hiding behind he keyboard !

Seems that you could monitor yourself enough to keep your posts to something even "somewhat" worthwhile.

I like most anything that shoots and attended the SHOT SHOW for over 10yrs in my younger days when always employed part-time in the powder burning industry. I think it is awesome to see the latest stuff and rub elbows with the top dogs in our sport. As an archery fan I am excited about the new arrow guns. With a state of the art compound bow I am able to ethically shoot game at 50 yds. With a PCP arrow gun I want to extend that range to at least 150yds. I am only interested in full size arrows (no crossbow bolts) and will only purchase one when I can assemble my own arrows! With the power plenum guns and state of the art arrows I believe 500 FPS is possible. With the super low standard deviation the experts would probably experience pass thru at 200 yds on deer with exceptional accuracy. I was once informed that I would be able to buy an arrow shooting barrel kit from FX for the Impact but have yet to see it available. I love shooting fish with my bow from a kayak, thus an arrow gun for that purpose would be cool also.

The promise of the paintball PCP guns at low pressures is exciting but I do not even pretend to understand it!? The chassis stocks are interesting to me also. I love the adjustability factors and the ability to fold at the wrist is awesome to put in a pack for a long day of hunting—thus far I have a chassis stocks on powder burners only as I am waiting to try/experience what is available for airgun use.
My next PCP gun will be a proven slug shooter—I appreciate the what is being done now but I want an exact twist for a heavier slug (like a 40gr .22) I have been on the lists for a long slug barrel for my Impact II with no end in sight. With powder burners one purchases a cut-rifled barrel in the proper length length for a longe range shooter. Another thing I would like to experience in the PCP world is a PCP handgun crafted to shoot tethered from a Guppy in my backpack (no air reservoir on the gun) with a super lightweight/flexible line while hunting/pesting. In my day (I am now retirement age) the new technology for our powder burners came directly from the competition shooters and was applied to enhance our sporting guns. I personally love the trickle-down of technology and would be happy if there was only one “new” thing at SHOT SHOW. As I can no longer afford a day at the range shooting 500 rds from my .556 or Creedmoor I am absolutely enamored with airguns that let me do so and the competitive air gunners and ‘smiths that push the limits. I personally would like to see more airguns crafted like powder burners for hard use and no poi shift.
