A question about silencers - DonnyFL

Hi Ries. As a follow wildcat owner I gotta say Donny moderators are some pretty hefty stuffs, and usually that's a good thing. But, the 700mm barrel we have here will bend downwards after the spacer due to the pure weight of the moderator sitting on the very top to a point where the barrel will almost touch the air tube down below. If you move the bullpup suddenly sometime you can hear the small collision of the tubes. The solution I found is lighter moderator, such as the fx moderator which is what I have on.

I've emailed DonnyFL about the new sizing and they told me that the new sizes has built in tolerances to avoid clipping and that going one size bigger is not necessary anymore. In contrast, I also emailed last year before they had the split sizes and was recommended to go one size up. I ordered the .177/.22 for my .22 Taipan Veteran and it has no issues. I do have it mounted directly to the barrel with no shroud.

Heya man,

I 3D printed a barrelband for my wildcat, so that wouldnt be a problem. Anyway, thanks for the response!

That’s why you need one of these. These can be made with and without pic rails. All my bottle and airtube pcp’s have them for the reasons you explained, and the added bonus is I can lean barrel up against a corner wall with no fear of losing POA.

Directly on a barrel vs the (variable) stacked tolerances of mounting on a shroud is the only reason for the "go one size bigger". Naturally one would expect some variables in threading/other on each batch he gets in also? On a ".25" Sumo the threads are quite loose and count on it bottoming out on something square to the bore. Even if you havd 2" of threads on your barrel but nothing for the rear end of mod to hit against the darn thing would RATTLE about the place. Even with a donny adapter, unless bottomed against it , wiggle wiggle wiggle. If using a donny I would ask the man and use what he say's, like with any other seller.

Still if one is needed at all prefer a direct barrel mount with excellent threading tolerance's and a much closer to actual bore size baffling system.

Not bashing any product. For truly tight/ever so close tolerances the maker would need the rifle in hand as AZ does. Even with these slightly vague tolerances the sumo DID make an airforce escape .25 almost too silent.

Call! As folks have mentioned the product does change/evolve and current info is what you need.
