My .25 is tuned for power at 55 ft lbs and still has a decent shot count of 48-50 I alternate it with my .25 wildcat for hunting....it hits with authority and is just as accurate,so impressed by this mid level gun

Is that a Sumo on there? I'm sure you love it, not even going to ask... my Tanto was all I needed direct mounted to barrel but I like the shroud when it's turned backwards, it's the max length in that config and I want to experiment with the air stripper but think I may need to polish and crown that thing pretty good just to cross it off the list of things that may be effecting accuracy. Not that I'm disapointed with my groups off the back of my Civic with some wind looking through a so-so scope, this is my first PCP and I've shot and modified and tinkered with fire arms and break barrels for about 12 years here and there but I friggin love this gun and am so excited at it's potential still. If the gun was shooting as good as it can, like many of my other hobbies, I'd probably be done with it...



So my question is, have you done any testing with shroud vs. no shroud vs. Donny vs Donny&Shroud for accuracy comparisons??



Also, 50 shots at 50+ FPE is really nice out of a non-regulated 280cc... I mean, damn that's good. Theoretically, do you think I could ever achieve that shooting 25.39 pellets in .22 caliber? why is it that much harder in a smaller caliber??

I have not done any testing at all...I am a hunter and some times I punch paper to kill time,I can say that the accuracy of both guns is really good,my .22 has Troys quiet kit and the hammer hitting the valve is really the only noise you hear till the pellets hit down range.and the .25 with the sumo basically the same thing with a much louder thud down range.troy did the trigger on my .22 and it’s fantastic not as good as the wildcat but reall freakin close.... good luck with yours

p for shot count ,I get 80 ish shots at 28 ft lbs...I use that when I just want to shoot paper or red squirrel or chipmunk

wow, that is a great pair right there.



I just got new springs from Troy in the mail (the stiffer of the two is the same spring in your .25) and I'm shooting 50fpe with an "extreme" spread of 9fps! I only screwed it in a few turns and it has plenty left to crank up the power. I've got quite a bit of testing to do and have some 28gr bowtail HP slugs coming in the mail today that I'll be testing out as well. More to follow in a separate thread.

Will be interesting to see how those BTHP’s do in your .25 if the numbers are good I might have to give them a try, where did you get those if I may ask? I have a Mega .25 coming from Troy that he is tuning for me and those might be worth checking out.

Don’t want to post prematurely on results and my chrony kept giving me errors but did read some at 920fps for 53fpe! The expansion is crazy and at 35yds they were touching but were opening up at 50....only shot about 10 before it got dark but hopeful to tune these nice nice

I have hunted with the 28g HPBT, not shot much paper. My hunts have been under 50 yards. The effect on ground squirrels is quite profound. They just explode at 32-ish fpe. I do know that these shoot about 1 inch high at 50 yards compared to my go-to 28.5g diabolo pellets.

Get ya some, shoot'em and tell us about how the work for ya.

So Jim, just wanted to clarify one thing - these are 28gr in .22 cal not .25 just to be clear if you were interested.

10-4 thanks for catching that, my mind got sidetracked, guess I was thinking of the .25 cal,

I can just try some 28gr Hunter Extreme pellets in the .25 and see what happens, but the BTHP’s in 28gr sounded pretty nice.

So I’m getting so “blow by” I would call it (?) a little puff of air by the hammer spring and cheek peice, is this symptomatic of a bad o-ring somewhere or a inefficient hammer spring setting perhaps that’s creating some bounce maybe? Anyone seen this problem?

Wasn’t the best description of the above, if you look at the picture you can see the condensation from the “blow by” air. Not sure if it was doing this on full power, as well as choking the flow with the power adjuster.



Also, if someone can suggest a methodology to tuning the hammer spring tension to the ideal setting with power adjuster, I’d be all ears.

Cleaned the barrel and polished it with some 3M sandpaper that Ernest Rowe suggests. The 25.4's have become very innacurate after 50 yards for some reason and the cleaning didn't seem to help, can't figure it out. So, I detuned the rifle to shoot 18.1's at 950-970fps for about 48 shots and it's very accurate, got a few groups at or close to .61" at 70yds, psyched!

going to polish the barrel again but this is what it looks like now

This was a shot string I took today, I'm going to go try a different hammer spring to see if I can get more than 33 usable shots with the 18.1's, I think I'm hitting that valve too hard maybe but I love the performance out to 100yds shooting them at 950fps, very surprised there.

I got a stock kral mega in 22 cal and out of the box it's basically a 30-ft pound gun.

I'd like it to be 55 or 60 foot pounds but I'm not sure what to do to get more power out of it. Social security doesn't leave me much funds to play with and I'm basically a do-it-yourselfer. Compared to the Hatsan flash this is much better quality machine work and design but the flash is so easy to turn the hammer spring up but I don't really see too much that you can do with the Kral.

I was thinking I would just drill out the transfer port and power adjuster a little bit bigger and retap the set screw to the next larger size but I have no clue about machining any valves. I wonder if Troy will sell me the parts and I can install them myself?

Any ideas would be appreciated from a 35-year-old Vietnam vet .

I have delrin inserts to fill the band and hold the barrel.

I used the end cap off the barrel shroud, then shimmed it tightly with a piece of business card. There is zero wobble and it is completely reversible. My Puncher Breaker is still the #1 gun in my stable. It's my grab and go for hunting. Hell of a gun, imho.
