A video clip of Dusty Powers

WOW! Makes me want to buy another FX Crown. Awesome shooting. I just saw the results and he was the only one in the top 19 shooting 22cal and one of 16 out of the top 19 shooting FX. Very impressive. My current Crown MK2 is a .25cal, but it would be very interesting to have a 22cal shooting that fast as you could interchange with the JSB slugs as well.

Good video, Michael. Interesting how "quiet" the gun was. I noticed in other side-view videos that you can see the barrel whip at the muzzle end in a lot of the guns as they were shooting on the range.
I have Crown setup similarly(ST chassis, .22 700mm Superior liner, Tanto moderator, carbon fiber tube, side mlok weights, Accutac Swiss Arca bipod, Delta Stryker) shooting MRDs at 975 fps. Very accurate(.75 to 1.25" five shot groups on light wind days) at 100 yards, but I can't get rid of (random?) flyer(1" or more away from group) every 8 to 15 shots or so(even out of sorted JSBs or FXs MRD rebrands).
The faster speeds(over 940fps or so) seem to limit spiraling. Sorting and lubing with Gunzilla reduced average group sizes dramatically. Tried many different moderators(and no moderator), barrel tuner weights, as well as FX tuner. The Tanto alone consistently yielded the tightest groups at 100 yards.
I go back and forth between this ST Crown setup and another shooting .25 King Heavies MK2 at 912 fps out of a 600mm Super Heavy liner with an FX empty can moderator(this setup doesn't do well with ANY significant weight at the muzzle). Hard to say which is more accurate any given day.
I hope that soon more people will start using better camerawork(high speed) to examine barrel movement while shooting, pellet/slug exit from the muzzle and pellet travel as it moves downrange to gain undertanding of which specific factors actually affect projectile stability, and thus accuracy.

Shooting the winning card at rockymountainairgunchallenge 2022. The entire shot cycle is almost dead flat on his FX Crown. Topped with a Nightforce scope, and held up by a ??? Bipod, which also appears to be weighted down.

no barrel movment on his rig his silencer dont even wiggle wonder whats inside bet its not just a carbon liner but who knows

I thought these were great in the Redwolf also, is that not the case?

Edit, missed the part where you said "my only airgun..."
Yes in my experience the Redwolf HP .22 really liked the original .22 MRD's. The new MRD design (deeper base + thicker skirt) has been a step backwards in all of my airguns, and as far as I can tell that's the same story for everyone else too.

Ah ok thanks for the clarification, I didn't know there's a new version.

Hmmm I think I will try that weight. It must be heavy. No wonder he has part of a automotive scissor jack to hold the whole assembly up!

I already have one of those bipods in the trunk of my car and didn't even know it! 🙃

Dusty did his homework and did a awesome job. I hope he is willing to show us some of things on how he shot so much better than everyone else. Congrats!

Wow, no movement at all, looks like about a ten pound lead weight... (at least), kinda like what Nicolay was using last year. With the newer RD Monsters at 975 in the Red Wolf, they shoot well but require detailed sorting, and still get a flyer every 35 to 40 shots. Unsorted more like once every ten to fifteen shots. Dusty said he sorted in his interview, obviously he was getting an occasional flyer to instigate that sorting. Even ONE flyer would have dropped him down to 4th, so a little luck shined on him that day. Last year I shot a 229-8x in the first round and didn't have a singe flyer. I shot the .25 Delta Wolf in the first round this year and had gun issues, then switched to Bleu (.22 Red Wolf HP) in the second round and had 2 or 3 flyers - a 4 and a 6 definitely, maybe the 7 was me... And had a decent score relative to the others in my relay.

It is a very smooth and “DEAD” shot cycle!, it should be with the amount of weight on and under that gun, it’s obviously working for shooters. But I have to wonder how much is psychological or just doing what others are? (Remember tuner’s, double bottles etc. etc.).
I did notice it was awkward and a strain to go from record to sighter and back which seems to be from the weight and leverage needed to overcome this and the distance from buttstock to scissors jack.
It’s not my style of shooting Benchrest, but I’m not competing at these distances, the one time I did (pyramid air cup) I didn’t make it through the qualifiers! so it’s just my opinion and observation not based on experience.
