The day was absolutely beautiful today. The temperature was in the 50's and sunny. So, I decided to head to my favorite little spot in the woods for some afternoon squirrel action. As soon as I got there and stepped out of the truck I knew it was really too windy. I walked across a pasture to get to the wood line and the wind was whipping!! I mean really getting it! I knew that there was way too much wind to have any kind of a productive squirrel hunt. They just don't move much in this kinda wind. They stay held up in their little tree houses until the wind lays down......then they move in order to eat. But I can think of no better place to be on a beautiful afternoon this time of year than in the woods.....windy or not. I sat for three and a half hours and saw nothing but a bunch of Turkey Buzzards circling over head for nearly the entire time. I guess they were just waiting on me to die...LOL. It was getting kinda late and it was starting to get pretty low light conditions in the woods. So, I started my walk out and spotted two squirrels coming down an old oak. I dropped to a knee and as soon as they hit the ground I was able to pop one with the Marauder. The other took off........I had to gather up and go home. Had to get the Christmas decorations out of the attic for the wife. Only killed the one squirrel. But, it was a really good day..........
