Air Arms AA Prosport owners…

I’m considering buying one of these in .177 and only have experience with HW’s. Can some of you guys tell me the pro’s and con’s if there is any, or tweaks and mods you did to improve them? How’s the accuracy, are they hold sensitive compared to say a HW97K? Anything else you can come up with..lol. Pellet fussy?
I don’t hear about the Pro-sport half as much as I do the TX200, is this just because of the awkward
cocking arm compared to other under levers?
Thanks for any input.

The Pro Sport is a work of art but I prefer the TX200 personally even though the Pro Sport does shoulder and ride a bag better. That cocking arm is just a bit too awkward for my liking.

As far as hold sensitivity goes, they're about on par with a stock 97K and accuracy can go either way depending on the barrel lottery. One thing I would recommend is short stroking the action. TbT makes a short stroke piston seal that will allow you to utilize the entire anti bear trap. Its also very easy to install. The other option is to install the extended piston latch rod which is still pretty easy but nowhere near as easy as the TbT install.

Cool, thanks for the heads up.

AA Pro Sport owner. Purchased new last winter, 8000 rounds through it this summer. Zero issues. First and only springer. Look at others, tempted at times, but never buy. Choices either seem inferior in some way or just duplicate much of the experience I have with Pro Sport. Same powerplant as TX200, so choice here is just between form factors. I love the Pro Sport for both how it shoots and how it looks.

Shoot 90-120 round per session. 71 years old and well past peak physical condition. Zero issues with under lever cocking, do not find it at all difficult nor tiring. Matter of how you hold the rifle to cock it. Butt on thigh or other firm support, off hand around very fore of stock, other hand gripping lever - all three points of leverage nearly equidistant from pivot point, ideal. Pull lever down firmly in one quick, continuous motion until action locks with double click. Firm, quick, continuous with strong finish. Slow or hesitate and it takes more effort. Let up at end and it will only single click and not set safety. Hold the higher power export rifle near trigger like the English are shown to do with their sub-12 versions and you will struggle to cock the rifle.

If you’re thinking about getting one of these guns then I highly recommend getting one. I love mine and have shot it way more than my TX. Cocking the gun is just different than other guns, for me it took little to no time to get used to the lever action. As far as accuracy, I firmly believe the gun is more capable of shooting accurately than I am. The JSB 8.44 either size are the only different pellets that I have really tried. I’ve had the Pro Sport for about two years now and it’s not something that going anywhere anytime soon.

Thanks for the info, and great target group. Looking forward to joining you guys by becoming a prosport owner. If it’s more accurate than my tricked out 97K I’ll be surprised for sure.

Pretty cool wind indicator, did you make that?

I've had my .177 PS for more than 10 years and shoot it often. Easily more than 30k shots. Super accurate gun with excellent balance and styling. Mine has a Vortek kit and seal and shoots JSB 8.4s at about 11.5fpe. IMHO, 12fpe or thereabouts is the sweet spot for this gun. The longer cocking arm is unique, but has never been a 'problem' for me. Highly recommend the PS!

Nice. I’ll see how it is out of the box first, then look into tuning if needed.😜

I have 2 Pro Sports 1 in each caliber. I’m usually sitting and don’t mind jacking the PS at all. I prefer it over the TX. Best looking gun, feels so good to hold and accuracy is its specialty. Again I wish .20 cal. was available. The insides look as good as the exterior and is easy to work on. Good luck. Crow

To clarify my comment above. The Pro Sport isn't hard to cock by any means. Just a bit awkward from a bench and some positional shooting in Field Target. You need to shift your body to cock the gun away from the table and your knee whereas the TX200 is just rip it and go.
I’ll second that and add that the ProSport’s angular cocking lever has a less comfortable grip than the TX200’s rounded lever. It’s not a huge issue but feels different.

Lastly, aside from its nice looks the ProSport balances very nicely, similarly to the TX200HC.

I got a walnut coming.🥰

I’m thinking the cocking handle can be modded to be better, we’ll see.

Thanks, I got it from a buddy who made a hand full for a group of guys. I also was fortunate enough to have someone like @Sqwirl57, help me out through my springer process and put his special tune on my PS.

Congratulations on your new gun that’s on the way! We will all want to see pics of that fresh walnut! Where are you getting it from and what are you planning to put on top?
