AA S500 Lane regulator install

Hi There

I have A S500 XS Regulated rifle used for Field Target, I bought a replacement regulator from Lane in a bit to improve air efficiency and es, question is..... Lane sent me the regulator set at 120 bar, the AA regulator that came out of the rifle was marked 150 with a sharpie, im wondering to i need to re adjust the lane reg to 150 or start at 120 and tune from there?

Thank you for any help

I thought AA put huma regs in the regulated models? If they do I doubt you will get better performance with the lane.

What power level are you planning to run? What caliber? 150 seems a bit high for a 30 fpe tune if you have a .22 or .177. Also if you are trying to run a lower power tune with the reg set at 150 that would cause the inconsistency from being to far down the knee.
Im running sub 20 fpe for hunter field target, i have the transfer port set at power level 3 with 13.4 grain heavies traveling around 805fps, shooting very nicely but when i fill the gun to the recommended 250 bar i get some fluctuations in fps until the pressure gets to around 220 bar, problem is if i only fill to 220bar, the reg falls off at 150 bar, that only leaves me with 70bar to complete an FT sight in, plus a 60 plus shot FT match, i thought if the lane reg was set at 120 bar it might help with air consumption and i could only fill to 220bar

Since its an in house reg I would switch it. 150 bar seems pretty high for that power level. I have a huma in my S510 .22 that I installed before they offered regulated models. I have the carbine so its a short barrel and I have the reg set around 125 bar for 30 fpe. I also have mods I did to the hammer reducing its weight cause it was way to heavy after regulating it. I think my reg was set around 90 bar for 18 fpe from my rifle.

Wanting to revive this ol thread as I'm getting ready to play a lot more with my AA S500 XS carbine and full length models. Would love to hear more from AA S500 XS owners who have upgraded or changed anything on these wonderful platforms. Especially if you use your S500 for Field Target.
Type of Regulator?
Regulator setting?
pellets and speeds of choice?
etc....

I have an HFT-500 with a lane regulator fitted.
I have the transfer port opens up slightly. I set the regulator to 100 bar. And fill to 280 bar. I get 75 shots with 10.3 gr pellets at 875 fps making 17 ft lb . I use it for HFT
3 fps spread and 3/4 group at 60 yards
280 bar or 2800 psi? I’ve got an S410 and it’s max fill is 200 bar. They may have increased it since then though.

This is what happened after I regulated it and decided that I could probably overfill it a little.

280 bar = 4061 psi 😳 ???

Well at least it caused you no harm. Do you remember how much pressure was in it when it happened ? I seen one other S410 like that long ago. Guy that had it did not have anyinfo on it...

I had been filling it to 250 if I remember right. It let go when I had it on the compressor and it initially looked like the o-ring had just extruded itself somehow. I remember it being a loud whoosh.

The somewhat reassuring thing about it is that it failed in about as safe a way as something like that could fail and that was probably by design. I would have preferred to find out instead that AA reservoir tubes are practically indestructible and that 400 bar is no problem for them, but that’s not the case.

Wow- I do remember seeing the oring pushed out of one side... Years ago I read that it was a AA safegard having the oring on the outer edge rather then on the other end of the plug- might have been on a Brtish forun. I wonder if the tubes on the newer models are stronger or better material since they are rated for 250bar. As I understand they will interchange.

Love to hear more from people who are actively using their AA S500 XS models for FT.
this is the carbine version in a GRS stock. Great balance for offhand or kneeling, I've changed the scope to an Athlon 6-24x56
and relegated the s-tac shown to my hft pistoli. I always change the AA funky fill fitting to a Foster QD.
