AAFTA 2020 Grand Prix Results and new rules for 2021

I had it happen at the last Cajuns. I hit the paddle very nearly centered and the target didn’t budge. Luckily for me it was the very first shot of the match and the MD was able to verify that it was a clean full hit and that there was no other marks whatsoever indicating a split anywhere. He worked the target up and down a few times and it went on to function normally after that.

If that had been a few lanes in...I would have lost the point because the target would have been marked up with no way of telling what happened. I’m sure that happens plenty.

Ive also had targets release the paddle but not fully fall.

Mechanical things fail once in a while...especially when being shot at...lol.

The best thing to do is spend time before a match to ensure they are working properly.

When I was running matches, I liked to leave the target down until just before the match and then pull them up to verify the strings, no snags, etc. Or just let each squad pull up the target when they first get to the lane. I found that targets left up for long periods, especially when subject to wind, dust, dirt, moisture, corrosion, etc. can get stuck, and the 1st shot does not always work.
