ability to delete posts we create

Why can we not delete a post we make ourselves? Why do we not have this ability? It would be especially useful when someone makes a thread in the incorrect subsection and then realizes it.

We can delete comments we make to threads. It seems rather absurd not to have the ability to delete the thread itself.

I’ve deleted posts a couple time. Sometimes because of inaccuracy or a duplication of someone else's post.

maybe replys but unless its hiding somewhere, we cannot delete threads.

For instance, if I realized this was a duplicate thread, I couldnt delete it, only my replies to I make like this one.

So my post (#2) above shows a DELETE button. Touch it and you’ll see photo number two.

You should be able to report your own thread to a moderator if you want to have it deleted.

From an administrative perspective I makes sense to me that one can not delete their own threads. I think it could lead to an overall loss to the forum if users started deleting their threads. Many threads contain good data that is worth preserving. For the fringe cases - reach out to moderator.

The ability to delete OP:

1) deletes the whole thread with all responses which often includes worthwhile content from others.

2) allows OPs to be assholes or careless/thoughtless when starting threads.

3) allows OP's to "take my ball and go home." This is not our website and therefore not our ball to take home.
