With the Velcro attachment you could just remove it from the compressor when you have just the fans running and replace it to keep track of the compressor running time.
Mine has never turned on when the fans are running when set to the lowest sensitivity option. Always runs when the pump is running - It is currently on a GX CS4 which has quite a bit less vibration than the CS3 or a Yong Heng.
OP/Geezerhood - I'm confused as to which Hour Meter you're running. In your first post, it sounds like you installed one that runs off 12 volt connections that you made on your CS3's circuit board. Then in post #18, you state that you are using a vibration activated unit?
I have used both. The direct powered one was wired into the pump motor connector so it only ran when the pump was running. It is still working after almost 3 years. Coincidentally my sealed battery vibration activated one was found dead yesterday at 2 years and 1 month past the purchase date.
A direct powered one needs to be vibration activated with a setting that doesn't turn on the meter when the cooling fan is running or wired to the pump motor. I won't be buying any more with sealed in batteries. I can see how that would be good for something that is used outside, but not on my compressor.
Sorry, never saw the notification. I had it set on the lowest sensitivity which I assume was Sen 1, but I can't check it as it is now DOA, about one month past the warranty. I cut into it to see if I could replace the battery, but so far have not been able to find the battery in there. The PCB is solidly glued in. I don't think I can remove it without destroying the unit.
I have set mine to hi sensitivity and have trouble with it sensing vibration on a GX CS4. I have one on an old Yong Heng and frankly, it would probably work if it were in the next room. The CS4 just doesn't shake much.
