Advenger vs Airacuda

Hello all, I'm new to the boards and didn't see many threads or Ytube's compairing these two good choices in the budget catagory of PCP's. I'm thinking about adding a .25 cal pcp to my small quiver of guns and limited storage space. Currently, I have a .177 HW80 springer and a .22 Brocock bantam hi-lite. Seriously looking at picking up either an Advenger or Airacuda in .25 and open to their different models like max or new x. I live in San Diego and have no options of an airgun shop for repairs or friends into the sport. Looking for the best function, accuracy, power, reliability, value, versitility and low report. The ability to hold air without leaks is one thing I've appreciated about my Brocock. Which one do you guys pick between the two and why?

I own both an Avenger and a DAR. The DAR is made by the same OEM as JTS and shares similar features. With that said, I'll include some impressions on the two of them...

The Avenger's longer barrel and higher fill pressure are undeniable advantages if your goal is power. And of course an externally adjustable reg makes it easy to tinker with different states of tune.

Whereas the DAR is more refined in a few important areas. Like the regulator for example. The Avenger's reg has a reputation for both creep and poor input regulation (velocity changes at high fill pressure). The first one can be fixed with a little effort. The second one, not so much. Whereas the reg in my DAR is rock solid. The DAR's barrel is more substantial and the shroud is baffled which makes it much more effective. Then there are things like the nice aluminum magazines and wood stock that just overshadow the plastics of the Avenger.

So they're quite different from my perspective. A preference for one over the other will depend on what characteristics one favors.

Donz,
My JTS Airacuda Max .25 was one of first batch sold by Pyramyd Air. No secret that Chinese QC is iffy, but can't beat the price, so most just hope to win the QC lottery. A 13-page thread, "Airacuda Updates," in the archives, will prove informative. In a nutshell, some new owners gave up, some, like me, struggled, while others were thrilled. The design, features and craftsmanship, at the price point, is hard to beat. My problem ended up two-fold, an out-of-round shroud and baffle stack bolt never tightened. Biggest gripe, early on, during prototype testing and evaluation, it came to light a gap exists between action and stock, so that tightening single stock bolt pinches action so magazine won't insert. Problem never addressed during production, so consumer and warranty services are left to resolve. Best advice is to search YouTube for Casino7095's video on the DAR Generation 3. He compares to his Air Venturi Avenger and is a must see, IMO. WM

I understand the OP's question is dated, but there are plenty of new/newer members who will see the title of this thread and read it for content. If I was just starting out again, I would seriously consider this .25 Regulated Marauder. from Air Gun Revisions.
