Advice on purchasing a used air rifle.....

Newbie here, experienced with buying through gunbroker but new to airguns. I am looking at a Walther LGR on Airgun classifieds but , unlike gunbroker, there doesn't seem to be much buyer/seller protection (or none). Paypal told me they don't cover air guns under their normal buyer protection system...what's a guy to do?

Any advice would be appreciated. ( or if anyone has an ambidexterious Walther LGR for sale, please let me know)

Thanks, Bob M.

You might consider joining the Network54/Yellow forum. A person has to be a member to post or reply to an ad. Thus for example, I put up a WTB ad. I get a reply I'm suspicious about, so I ask for pictures and that they reply on the Yellow to my ad. If they don't reply, I'm done. I check their feedback on the BOI (board of inquiry) if they have any. This isn't foolproof, but the majority of Yellow members (as well as AGN) are trustworthy and the moderator makes an effort to expose scammers.
As to your search for the LGR, Jim Edmonson from the AA classifieds has a great reputation, he deals in match rifles like the FWB 300s and the different German SSPs.
Good luck!
John
PS-speak to the seller by phone and trust your gut, if it feels wrong or too good to be true, it probably is!
