AEA 95 Cal

At a certain energy point, solid lead projectiles become very inefficient at impact. I don't know exactly where that point is, but it's quite a bit below 4,000fpe.

I'm not knocking innovation, but unless they intend for there to be an armor piercing application or similar (so, not lead), I just don't see the point.
It’s about speed not overall fpe where lead starts to blow up. If you are around 1000 feet per second with a 2500 grain slug it will easily be a full pass through even on elk sized game.

With a roundball out of a 14" .72 barrel making about 400fpe i get a full pass through on 18" ballistic gel, with enough force left over to half way flatten the 500gr ball when it hits the plate.

A 1 inch hole ripped all the way through an elk would be crazy. The only place you're getting ammo for that thing will be bin or maybe Mr hollowpoint. The .82 cal slugs are a few bucks a piece. So for this thing $5 and up a round I'm guessing. Plus it will need 7000psi I'm sure. So a new compressor also.

It's tempting lol.

If I ever get one I would plan on casting my own.

The real problem is where are you going to find 7000 psi tanks because you’re sure not going to want to wait for a compressor to fill it every other shot. So you’re in it for a gun, compressor, oddball bullet mold and tanks that probably weigh 250 lbs each.

That's the problem. There are no large 7000psi tanks. You'd need to bring the compressor with you to shoot, or carry extra massive dual tube prefilled tanks. The 7kpsi compressor bin makes is probably a shoebox type, so you could run it off of a vehicle i guess. It's not practical for anything other than shooting at home if you're lucky enough to have the space.

I'm guessing the gun is around $3k. Compressor 700 to 1200 or more. Plus the gun must be 15lbs or more. Awesome yes, but not practical.

Yeah, I actually love the impracticality of it, but the price is just too high for me. Having a .95 cal air rifle that's best suited for tribal whaling has an immense appeal to me, but setting something like that up is likely going to cost $6K or more and that's just too much for bragging rights.

I agree but yet you have some who will spend 3k on paper punchers :D.

WOW, now that looks like some power there. I can only guess that it would give maybe two shots per fill, and ammo may be a bit expensive? But I would hate to be on the receiving end of that thing that's for sure.
My thoughts too.

Way too much fill time and lead for an average field shooting sesh. perhaps a useful hunting gun, but for what exactly? Especially considering how effective more sensible calibers can be. If I want to ethically dispatch anything white tail deer or smaller w an air rifle, I'm pretty sure that my .51 is totally adequate & I already don't shoot my big bores as much as I'd like to due to the aforementioned reasons of lead and air.

An interesting novelty gun but something that makes a even less practical sense in an already non-practical & costly activity. To me AEA makes some fun looking stuff, but they're a bit over the top when it comes to the power thing & really seems to push the Kool Aid

It's a novelty gun. It's like owning a 500 S&W. You get it for the thrill and for the bragging rights. There really isn't any practical purpose for a .95.
I get it. & to be fair, in reality most of my guns are novelty guns....strictly for shiz-n-giggles. So who am I to judge those that are more endowed than me? ...caliber-wise.
