I'm thinking about getting a cheap(ish) air rifle to add to the armory and am considering getting an AEA HP Varmint in .22. But it doesn't appear that it has an adjustable hammer spring? Anyone come up with a mod to overcome this?

I did full hammer spring replacements on the aea's I've had in the past to get them where I wanted.

Adding more HS might not be productive on the shorter barrel versions. I reduced the TP down a good amount on a 10 inch barrel version and the speed barely dropped 20fps but definitely helped with more consistent accuracy.

There is a guy in LA on the AEA Facebook page who made a mod to adjust the hammer spring on HP SS guns.
