AEA Max... .457 or 357?

That’s a tough one for me. To me this is a super odd choice for primarily target. These are pure close range hunters. For target you will be doing more filling than shooting. Doesn’t seem a pleasant experience. I guess being primarily target I would say 357. Cheaper ammo and you might get an extra shot or two per fill.

Yeah, I figured smaller caliber would be better for the pocketbook. I am doing a return/replacement, and I really like the big bores. I think I will probably go with the .457 mainly because I have about 500 rounds of .457 ammo I bought for my S45 that isn't sanctioned by Bin Lu to shoot through the gun, so I've already spent a few hundred on the ammo. Anyhow, thanks for the input....was just wondering if people liked the .357 alot better than the .457.

Got you. The 457 makes sense for sure then. I know for me if I got one I would def go with the 457 over 357 after watching all of Mr HP reviews on them. I would take the fact that I’m not going to be able to shoot very far with either for deer so I would take the energy of the 457 over the flatter trajectory you could achieve with the 357. For me I would ultimately go with the 50 if I had to buy one. I am really intrigued by the big bores. I haven’t bought one only because I know it would sit in the safe 10 months of year and just can’t justify the expense for that. I have several powder guns for that

Well, I already have an M50, so I got the .50 cal covered, and I used to have a .357 Terminator semi-auto and a .30 cal semi-auto HP carbine, but traded them already. The .30 and the .357 semi-autos just didn't have the power I was looking for, which is why I am upgrading to the Max. I am hoping to go deer hunting next year, but will probably use the .50 for that, so the other ones are probably going to be for fun for the most part unless I have a hunting situation that might require one or the other. They will sit in my safe for 10 months out of the year, too, but I've already paid for them, so too late to go back now.

Maybe he'll let you get a regulated Challenger "cheapo" Long Stock in various calibers. If you're target shooting, take a 22, 25 or 30.

Not sure how flexible your situation is but most AEAs guns are better for target shooting compared to the HP Max.
Thanks for the info. I'm going to get the .457 for deer hunting. Will do some target shooting here and there for fun, but the main goal is to get some meat in the freezer next year.
