AEA AEA "Sonic" 7000 psi ready bullpup platform

Mmmm, no one HAS...to fill to 7000 psi !!!
I'd assume the gun will...work just fine at 3750-4350 psi.

Mike

We agree Mike, a feature that isn't.

A 7000psi fill gun is a pure advertising gimmick at best, and razor and blades/printer cartridge business model at worst (gotta buy their supposed 7000psi compressor to fill it that high).

Aren't welding tanks rated for 6000 psi?

I can see someone filling their gun from an oxygen tank (or an acetylene tank for "extra power") and sending shrapnel (and body parts) over a 50 foot radius.

For .22 caliber pellet guns, 30-33 fpe and for slug guns 60 fpe is fine for my applications. If I want/need more power for a special job I'll resort to a powder-burner.

I'd say that these extreme pressures are just a marketing ploy but then I do have a 4500 psi setup (compressor, CF tank and PCPs) and lots of people feel that 2000 psi is all that's needed.

Each to their own eh?

Cheers!

As a foot note, I've read (somewhere) that beyond 3000 psi the laws of diminishing returns kicks in and air flow and valves become an issue. I'll try to find that article. Maybe someone knows more about that subject.

Found that article...

Uneducated people do uneducated things. This reminds me of the loud boom I heard, to find out later a guy blew himself up filling a tractor tire without a cage, and without sense, which departed his body. This is a true story, and why industrial tires are filled inside a steel cage...the danger is not worth the cost. As MikeVV said, but that is taking into account using your brains, Selling point for what. Filling a PCP with BS will get you more power!:ROFLMAO::unsure:

While this looks like a lovely technical development, I'm concerned there may not be much market for this. If you want to shoot a projectile fast, why not just get a powderburner? For me, the primary purpose of an airgun is I can tune it to shoot at low and moderate speeds.

I suppose in the States there are people that can't purchase powderburners that would go for this. In Canada you can't purchase (most) airguns if you can't purchase a powderburner, so there's likely little market.
I get what your saying but here in the US everyone always wants more power out of an airgun so likely it'll sell pretty quick in the US.

That video reminds me of my younger days when I "impressed" many a young lady with claims about my ten-inch thing. But for some reason they seemed sorely disappointed to discover WHAT thing I was referring to.

Familiar with the term 'snake oil'?

.
You should buy MY book Ron.
Five Inches Of Fury!!!

So I punched her in the face and gave her 2 pumps.

Little market. Dude there are plenty of us that want to shoot fast. That whole aspect is appealing to a lot. Also not everybody can own firearms.

Exactly. This is the kind of development that could easily end the loophole you mention. Make airguns more like powderburners, and legistlators will notice.
I feel you but a lot of us when we look for power it's not because we're trying to shoot at break neck speeds. We're trying to shoot the heaviest slugs we can just below breaking the sound barrier.

If I wanted to shoot something big and heavy but subsonic, I've got a .44 mag lever gun with 44spl ammo that works perfectly. Simpler and more reliable than any airgun I know. IMO airguns shine for pesting and for those that really like to get a tonne of practice/range shooting in.

Tonne of practicing with pest airgun. A good .510 slug runs for $0.60/round (and the shop just closed). Add cost of compressing air, which in my case was running a V8, because 12v 5000 PSI compressor depletes battery in two fills, and it is more like $1 per round. Pretty sure can get NATO 7.62x51 for less than that to practice with my .308. Less potent calibers are even cheaper.

Big bore air still makes sense, since it is not a firearm, so you can get it shipped to your door, it still has tons of power, and you can legally run it with moderator. It is just that price per round is not its advantage over powder burner.

And those that can't own those guns you're taking about and those that love airguns and is our hobby and that love to hunt with air guns and a ton of other people that think the exact opposite of you. You damn narcissist.
