AEA Terminator .30 initial testing and first impressions

Say hello to my little friend! The newest, and of course most favorite -- AEA Terminator .30 caliber.

This was a BinTac $849.99 special that also included the 350cc back tank. I took that off ASAP because it makes the gun heavy. Nice to have for range days and have the option to get twice as many shots on a fill -- but the CNC folding stock is the business on this gun, and she packs away nice and compact. I also immediately ordered an $80 carbon fiber shroud from https://www.aresairgunstactical.com/ because it shaved a little weight and looks badass. Feels nice and silky in the hand too.

Then I fitted it with an Athlon Neos II 6-18x scope from my extra parts bin, and an ADE red dot / reflex sight mounted at a 45 degree angle. A versatile piece of kit.
Took it out in the back yard and fired a couple shots. OK, kind of loud even for chill neighbors and being out in the woods. I didn't want to spend a lot on a moderator, and I already have a DonnyFL "FX" that I've used on a couple other guns (now on my Guantlet 30). Different thread size on this AEA though -- so I ordered another DonnyFL "FX" in 357. Big difference! I had my wife take some shots while I went around the back of the house -- totally chill PFFFFffff sound now. Also loving that the moderator is the exact diameter of the shroud on the gun... the best kind of low profile!

It was taking me a little bit of effort to sight in the scope with JSB/FX 44.5 grain pellets. Accurate enough, but not very precise. I figured, ok it's semi auto, maybe I won't be target shooting with this.

Nah... I've got some NSA 30 grain slugs in various weights, so decided to go with the heaviest to start, 61.5 grain. Set my target back to around 45 yards (as I was unsure how good the results would be). Shot an 11 shot group (full mag) and then a 5 shot group to verify:

The top is the 11 shot group. Which is actually a 10 shot group with one that I pulled. The bottom is 5 shots.

That's some pretty impressive performance for a semi auto with a semi heavy trigger. And there's plenty of extra room in the magazines, you could load up 85 grains most likely if you wanted to.

But I took out the chronograph for the last shots today with the NSA 61.5 ... lowest was 860 something ... highest was 888 fps. A cool 110 FPE. Seems like it shoots everything around 110 FPE but at different velocities (the 44.5 grain pellets go way faster). But that's a great speed for pellet/slug stability, so pretty darn good precision without turning down the power adjuster. Who wants to lower the power on an AEA Terminator anyway?

For a peon such as myself who favors obtaining the best tools I can on a budget, I'm pretty impressed so far.
