AEAC unravels the new Fortitude .22 with pics, commentary, & a new VLOG video!

Crosman upped the ante today and has overnighted me a handpump, scope, and pellets for the winner!

Steve,

How can you be impartial with the Fortitude when Crosman supplies you?

Your review is already biased.

Come On Man!

Telling the truth is really easy when you let the vendor know before they send it that that's what you're gonna do.

You got questions? Shoot. I've nothin to hide.

Steve

In my opinion, the Maximus stock is nicer than the flexy marauder synthetic stock. It would have been awfully nice of them to offer the left hand bolt option like they do on marauder...that alone would keep me from buying one.

As for a .25 version, it seems like it would have a pretty loopy trajectory if they don't up the power. And in other disassemblies shown online, it seems they may have a challenge with plenum space to support the increased power. And if a larger plenum is added, it would dig deeper into shot count for the smallish tube. I think it's really better to stick with .177 and .22.

I appreciate your hard work Steve.

That’s to give away. Not exactly clear to me how that benefits Steve in a meaningful way.

Crosman or any other manufacture doesn't just send a product an not expect something in return.

You don't bite that hand that feeds you regardless if he plans on keeping it or not. It's how he makes a living via his sponsors.

The most up front review on the Fortitude I've seen is from Baker.

Thank you Bob. It feels good to have fans. Steve

Steve, I've always enjoyed your reviews and look forward to them. But as a viewer I like to express my viewpoint as I see it.

If this put's me in a negative light just because I disagree with you this one time then it's unfortunate.

I won't stop looking and enjoying your reviews.

There's nothing wrong with expressing yourself here or over at AEAC. We encourage it. But if you're going to question my integrity, I'm going to respond every time. I've openly shared here and on my YT channel that I'm on the payroll of 26 airgun companies, all of which are told upfront and before they agree to send anything, that I'm going to be honest in the review. Contrary to your suspicions, the industry wants this for they know that if I'm not, I won't have a following, ergo will be of no use to them.

If you're a follower as you suggest you are, you'd know that I'm always honest and always back up my position with repeatable examples based in experiment. To validate this, I'd encourage you to revisit any of my vids, especially Crosman's. We're friends (Crosman & I) but I've been tougher on them than most as I feel they don't always get things as good as they could be.

Now if you've anything of factual content to back up you're suspicion of my integrity, you're welcome to ask it here in this public venue, and I'll gladly address it... honestly.

Steve

As you know Steve has been completely "under water" in the swamps of Florida, which has held up a lot of airgun reviews & our monthly RDW. But that all changes tomorrow.

Until then, here's some more pics and commentary that I pulled from AEAC's FB page last night:

Our pals at Crosman get us back on schedule with a regulated Benjamin Fortitude .22, a Benjamin high pressure hand pump, a CenterPoint 3-12x44 AO 30mm scope w/mounts, a Benjamin sling, and 2 tins of Crosman .22 pellets (dome & hollow point). Sportsmatch UK Ltd. are throwing in a set of juicy T02C mounts, and JSB/Predator are kicking in a .22 sampler pack.

Details on how to enter and WIN will be shared in tomorrow's Review-Discuss-WIN (RDW) topic.

The new Fortitude takes advantage of a Marauder/Marauder Pistol hybrid upper, and a Discovery/Maximus lower... AND an all new regulator from Crosman.

At 23.3 inches long this new barrel is 3" longer than a Marauder barrel. This enables the Fortitude to sip air and still develop descent power. Behind that knurled tip lives 3 baffles to the Marauder's 5 and it's ridiculously quiet.

Look familiar? Yes, your .22 Marauder mags will fit it. This one's available in .177 & .22. A .25 is being considered.

Shoot it from 3000 to 1500 psi and you'll stay on the reg for a good 50-60 shots. Recharging by hand takes less than 2 minutes.

Before it broke in, it was pretty sketchy. The "single stage" pull was long, heavy, bumpy, and made it tough to shoot well. Readings were on occasion coming in at over 7 lbs.

Once it finally broke in (300 shots+ later), I got to like it as much as did those of the 2 Maximuses I reviewed in 2016 and 2017. Break weight dropped to closer to 6lbs but more importantly it (like they) began to act like a descent 2 stage... with manageable creep. If you wanna change it, you can. Travis at Airgun Depot and Donnie at Baker Airguns both have good reasonably priced solutions for ya.

Sportsmatch UK Ltd. scope rings (TO2C) fit well atop the Fortitude.

6.6 lbs just as you see it here and one fill - all day hunting on the regulator are gonna be appreciated by a lot of people. Did I mention it was accurate too? It is.

Keep your eyes peeled, because we're starting this RDW on Tuesday!

Less than 2 min to pump? This must be with a better pump than what came packaged with my Maximus.

1,000 to 2,000 psi took 50 pumps.....3 seconds per stroke is well over 2 minutes on that pump.

A Hill Mk4 would do it faster I'm sure but the basic Benjamin will be slow.

Not sure about what ya got there with your Maximus but this was a Benjamin 3-stage. Steve

Thanks Steve. Mine is a super basic black pump that says "Benjamin" on the tube, most likely not a three stage.
