AF Texan .457 LSS

Looking for some help.
Have an AF Texan upgraded with a lot of African Air Ordinance parts. Hard as hell to cock, so I changed to a shorter spring. Seemed to help that issue. The auto safety has been removed pervious to the aftermarket upgrades. But now every other time I shoot, this piece is getting stuck under the hammer catch, and I have to break down the gun every time and remove it from under the catch.

Do I need this? Can this come out? What is it used for?

That piece is controlled by the safety bar that was removed. It blocks the sears from moving which releases the hammer. I would put the safety back in.
Saftey is still in the gun, just the piece that makes it auto safety is missing. I’m wondering if the gun has to be cocked while in the fire position, then put on safety. I think this may be happening when trying to cock the gun when it is on safety. Any thoughts?

That makes it always safety maybe removing the spring and piece it presses against would work but I would put it back like it was. the Rekord trigger is the gold standard. It is square, the HW 97 trigger is the same which which allows the space for a mechanical advantages in the sears you don't get with the rectangle shaped texan trigger. In other words the trigger is going to suck no matter what you do. The safety is no big deal . I was impressed with how well made the componence were made. Other than the ruff surface on the top of trigger that rubs against the first sear and the safety bar you removed was fine. I would recommended you watch a British show about tuning an air rifle tuning. polishing springs, hammer and anything that slides. It was designed for that safety to be part of the system.
