Tuning AF Texan pressure gauge thread sealer......

got my .457 out today for testing zero for whitetail that begins here in 35days........

pressure was around 900/1000 ??

note on stock said I stored at 2900psi...

heard no leak so pumped up to find that the gauge threads are leaking.

appears some sort of black thread tape was used at factory.

anyone know what i should use ?

Doug went through this gun last year and made it a power house @3600psi

i installed the CF tank and sent to him.

i have read something about not using conventional thread sealing tape.....

let me know what yall think..... thanks

Just Dont follow his suggestion to use locktite. 

Black sealing tape is what Ninja uses.

Probably cheaper to buy local from Home Depot or ACE Hardware unless they ship for FREE.

i found a yellow teflon tape that says it handles up to 10,000psi.

i questioned them if that is liquid or air rated ? waiting there response.....



3600psi will be my max fill, just wanting to be safe with overkill.

Yellow normally is rated Gas pressure. Ace harware has it here.

This is what I use now, works really well. And if it still leaked, I put a thin coat of Nylog red refrigerant lube over the taped threads. But since switching over to this new Oatey tape, no need for Nylog.
