(Affordable) Airguns are About to Disappear

I’ve been anticipating this and the likely short term price increases to follow. For the foreseeable future I don’t need anything that I normally spend disposable income on. No cameras, computers, televisions, rc products, air guns, home appliances, nothing. This week’s stock market insanity should give us an idea of what to expect the consumer market to do. China makes a lot of product but if we just buy stuff we need and hold off on extras they’ll come around. They may make more noise and take longer but they won’t have much choice. Get all of the outsourced manufacturing back to the states. We used to be pretty good at it. If we weren’t I wouldn’t have guns older than me. I still can’t understand how it is profitable to make things half way around the world and ship them here. Gotta go, there’s two more airguns I want to find.

To each their own I suppose. Cold day in hades when I spend that on a notos. In my mind that’s still what it is.
Yup, no matter how you dress it up it’s stll a Notos… So “No” to upgrades that barely mimic higher end PCPs… Lipstick on a pig comes to mind…🙈 Just funning…

This is gonna get me in some poop. But in reality the cost is flat out robbery. C88 Plenum, C88 Fx barrel kit, Redcorn moderator, huben dream valve.. everything else is umarex.
$1000+ to drill 3 holes and do some dremel work and sanding, plus a few spring swaps and turning set screws. Absolute robbery.

As consumers are we to blame? The market is going to fill the need. How are happy with cheaper air guns compared to the $ 2000.00 air gun? The manufactures listen to their buyer's needs. Tariffs I'm in favor for! It sucks right now but I do think in the end will be much better. I think we all knew as the air guns got more powerful and accurate at longer ranges, we were going to catch someone's eye, regulations. I don't think he's far off the forecast for air guns.

Needing five of everything is a first world problem.

IMO, anything electronic is going to become stupidly expensive. So of you're good to go w those gadgets it should be survivable for awhile.

Pellets might get a bit more expensive

Airguns can be rebuilt & there are plenty of used guns. Or here's an idea, live w the guns and other toys that you have.

I usually really like what SGR says and has going on. However I could only watch the video for a minute if even. I'm not into fear mongering or panic buying. I too will just not buy anymore until they get it figured out. One positive thought is maybe some of my lower end guns with upgraded parts will not be low balled when I place on the classifieds as much.

That video is one heck-of-a rant
Although I do like the way he makes the word tariffs sound like terrorists.
But, to the point
IMO he's failed to consider how well-endowed the airgun industry in the US will be when the tariffs drive the best international air gun brands to open factories here in the states.
What a bonus

just my too cents

I don't believe the tariffs will ever induce the Asian and European makers to open manufacturing facilities in the US. These are not Fortune 500 companies with access to public equity. The cost of facilities and labor here would, I believe, be prohibitive for them, or if undertaken, would result in even higher pricing to the consumer. If the tariffs hold, I think we will see those airgun sources significantly reduced in US volume and with very high prices. But I also believe that the US will eventually lead the world back to a more free-trade approach, which seems to me the only way for a world economy to work.

To my knowledge outsourcing any product have never made it cheaper, at best all it do is increase the company’s profit.
...and it has as more to do with labor costs than material inputs.

everyone focusing on parts and not the assembly costs involved.

Somebody has to tediously solder all those tiny connections......just sayin'
