Crosman Age and assembly of my Crosman 760

I was given a Crosman 760, photos attached. I’m trying to find the year of it (I can see 818037 in very small font on the upper left side of the trigger assembly), and need to order parts for it - once I know which year it is!). Also got it partially dissembled but can’t see how the spring shown loose in the photo should go back in - I assume it should hold the pall into the firing mechanism until it is released by the trigger. Also, what holds the safety “piston” in place in front of the trigger - have I lost something?? Any help would be much appreciated!

Many thanks - new to this site and had difficulty getting this reply here (initially showed up down below as new message). Are you sure mine is 1980, since the brass bolt on mine only seems to be on older models, whereas the 1980 and later have the black (?plastic?) bolt in the low resolution owner manuals? I need a complete set of O rings and need to make sure I get the right ones! Thanks in advance for any comments or assistance.

Thanks Treefrog - Mine must be older than this, with a brass bolt handle. It’s also a pity Crosman don’t have higher res parts diagrams - they could be a lot better. The older ones are even worse!

I see that now. That plastic thingy stuck in the back of the barrel is the bolt. The handle goes into it.

There are some good videos of 760s reassembly on youtube. Thanks, WM. That's good stuff.

Cheers,

J~

Jon,
Suggest visit to JG Airguns website, select "Technical Help," then, "Model ID," then "Crosman Serial Numbers." After reading, try cross-referencing the metal receiver part numbers (#760A095, 760A096) against the exploded parts diagrams, on that website, until you find a match. WM
Thanks - found it. Useful site!

Sorry for the late reply. I am a new member here. I believe the number you pictured is a repair number. The serial number should be stamped on the rite side clamshell below the bolt. Your 760 could be a 1979 (due to the plastic barrel band) Earlier rifles had a metal band but it may have been changed too. Here is a picture of my 1978 760 before rebuild and 1 of the trigger spring in question.
