Air Arms S510 XTRA FAC & Ultimate Sporter?

The BSA R10 MK2 is tough to beat at its price. If you are just plinking and shooting for fun with some hunting/pesting the extra money for the ultimate sporter may not be worth it. You are the only one who can truly answer that question. I have a walnut S510 carbine and the stock fits me very good. But the ultimate sporter gives more adjustability if you like or need that. The R10 stock fits me even better than the S510 walnut.

Have you thought about the new FX Streamline? Seams be a direct competitor to that type of PCP.

No, I didn't know it existed but after looking further the FX Streamline sounds great. Where is it being offered? I haven't been able to find any for sale.

As mentioned before this will be my first PCP air rifle. I'm not really a hunter but I intend to do some pest control. I'm also not a full-fledged target shooter but I enjoy the process of it. What would please me most is acquiring a quality crafted air rifle even if I have to pay more for it.

The Ultimate Sporter comes with the Air Arms Q-tech moderator, has a slightly shorter barrel (19.45") and a smaller air cylinder (216 CC) giving a smaller shot count (about 20) while the XTRA FAC has a 19.5" barrel, 231 CC air cylinder and can give around 30 shots.

In terms of the stocks, the Ultimate Sporter has more adjustability than the XTRA FAC to allow for a better fit without having to do a lot of modifications. The Ultimate Sporter has more of a pistol grip while the XTRA FAC has a more traditional grip/feel to it. Another point to consider with the stock differences is that the comb on the XTRA FAC is more blade like and not as comfortable as some shooters like. Personally, I don't mind it, but others that have tried mine have complained and feel it should be sanded down a bit.

I have a .25 cal S 510. I love it, got a good deal on it used. Motorhead installed a regulator and lightened the hammer. I now get 33 40 FPE shots at around 4% deviation. This is with a 240 bar fill. I can put 71 shots through the same hole at 25 yards, adjusting for drop after 35 shots. I got an ultimate sporter stock, and love the rifle. Shoot it as often as my Crown. Motorhead did a magnificent job on this rifle. Very well worth the very reasonable expense.
