Air compressor recommendations

There are many many threads on this forum that you can peruse through. This is a frequently asked question and has been covered quite a bit.

The general consensus is that the oil free, 12 volt compressors are fairly unreliable for their cost. They are slow filling and aimed at direct fill users who don't mind waiting. The Yong Heng is much faster filling and is popular with guys trying to get the cheapest fast fill compressor. It helps if you have basic mechanical skills as they are easy to fix and parts are readily available.

Although I am not a fan of most of the China made products this is a good one for the money. So, I will second the Yong Heng vote. I have two one recently retired at 2+ years and my back up that died in two months but only took a $12 part to fix and is now filling my tanks and guns. There are several models you want the Hardcopy or the Set Pressure models as they both have the cyclone water separator and fill to 4500psi. The Simple or Starter version does not have the water separator and the Autostop shuts down at around 3000psi.

If your looking to get an Alkin compressor you might check with Ken (Sonny) if you're interested in ordering one. He's a member here and posts frequently.

Yes there are Vendors but often seen as special orders. So I don't know who as a vendor has them in stock.

Another member here was recently trying to sell one with 6 hours run time, JamesD, as a local pick up, but believe he was also a package deal.

Cheers

Definitely a buy once, cry once, but smile forever compressor. I already told myself if I can swing it, one happy day, I’m going to get the vertical model W31 with auto purge and auto stop, and sell off my 2004 model with 38 hours on it. With as cluttered as my garage is, the vertical model will store better.

I took delivery of a W31E vertical with auto stop and auto drain last week. It is all that, and then some.

Once you have it uncrated, you will be tickled with how easy it is to maneuver around. The weight is nothing to handle compared to the horizontal model, unless you have the horizontal on a cart, and it takes up far less floor space. The footprint of the vertical is only 18X22 inches.

I believe JamesD is an Alkin Rep!

Yes, he is a definite credit and asset to Alkin, and to all of us in the hobby.

One only needs to speak to him to realize that he is a straight on no BS guy who has the knowledge to back up every claim made about the Alkin compressors features, value, and longevity.

It was actually JamesD that schooled me on the Alkin compressors. What they were all about, life expectancies, robust features, etc. I knew nothing of what to look for in a compressor till we “met” thru a PM

I just purchased an Alkin W31 vertical. Ordered it Wednesday around noon had it wired and running this afternoon. They shipped it immediately and it traveled overnight to the YRC hub. Can’t beat that.
First impression? This thing is pretty much the daystate 110 on steroids . If anyone wants to talk compressors send me a PM I have some experience and opinions. I think I can help you.

Thank you to all for mentioning me.

I wish to clear something up.

I'm a Alkin Marketing Rep, not a Dealer.

I don't carry inventory. I may in the future.
I was telling people about the quality they get with an Alkin. Yes, it's not a investment to take lightly but consider your $1800-$6000 airguns.

Would you rather have to have them all cleaned, maybe parts replaced, 10 years from now? Or hopefully just cleaned & resealed?
The analogy is like that of a diver/firefighter breathing compressed, dirty smoky, oily air.

Or E-quality, near Research Grade if an extra tower and filter were added.
They can't be beat for the cost.

The analysis is from a Alkin in factory formation. No extra filters, towers, separator.

Either new 2020 version of a W31, Horizontal or Vertical is same price. Buyers choice.
