Air Force

I dont see anybody shooting air force rifles anymore for the most part. Is there quality issues? Besides the Texan line up nobody seems to be shooting the condor / talon. Is this just because they are out dated? has airforce been slacking in the products? maybe because there are so many multi shot small bore rifles with they 50-70ft-lb range? I am still waiting to buy my .25 condor as every place is sold out.

Well considering they are completely sold out everywhere and people are on months long waiting lists to buy a new one.... I’d say they are still plenty popular. The Texan line of big bores has brought a lot of new people to the sport and has made big bore airgun hunting much more mainstream than it ever has been in the past.
My brother has been waiting several months for his new condor .25 to ship. I’ve been told the Lothar Walther barrels are having production issues due to the ‘rona in Germany and this has in turn affected the production speed of the Airforce airguns. Hopefully production catches up with ALL airguns as well as with pellets in the near future.

Airforce users aren't constantly having to add on upgrades to their guns, then figure out how to set them up to perform, only to have to do it again and again.

No Airforce users know that their guns perform, and place maximum fpe to sending lead down range, thus not really needing multiple shots, cause 1 shot 1 kill most definitely applies...

Airforce users tinker with their guns as much as anyone else - I know, I are one! There's a reason "Talon Tunes" exists - there's a lot that can be done to improve the off-the-shelf performance of an AF gun. Not knocking the gun at all - mine served me well for probably 7 years before I got the bug to get another PCP. (After buying a TT tophat, silent hammer, Mad Dog stock, and I'm sure some other stuff...)

I'm somewhat in the same boat as Rickrick.... I don't shoot my Condor SS .22 as much since the FX Classic .22 and HW110ST .177 came into my life... but the only reason being the side lever - repeater capability.

I did have the SS out the other day, just making sure it still functions, and it does.... took out a chipmunk across the neighbors backyard, laser measured - 65yds.... one hashmark holdover of the Vantage 4-12 with 18gr JSB.... one less backyard digger!

Out of the many different platforms I have, none has been easier to work on or tune than my TalonP. Change the Tophat, hammer, add a couple inches of barrel and it's a 72fpe accurate slug shooter.

While yes Airforce users tinker, the simplicity of its design doesn't require 100 threads online trying to figure out tuning. You simply add it and adjust to your specific need.

Some love um they just are SO far from the latest greatest and zero "needed" tuning/tinkering/work. With the original design utility model(s) having changed darn close to nothing not much to say.

Tried a gunpower model in the '90's , meh. Ugly, not a good target rifle and if it falls from the shooting bench you've bent the frame, shucks.

200+ pcp's later and needing a light weight varmint rig safer than an RF I grabbed an Escape .25 last year. TOO light, cant hold steady but also cant hold steady, so? As soon at it took 2 yellow bellied marmot's from the orchard with one shot (only 27 yards) I realized they are an excellent utility rig. Heck no one honestly ever said a USFT was a good looking "traditional" rifle but they too have a place in airgun use.

Measures 29" as I use it w/out the ever popular Chinese moderator (which works well but sloppy threads/tolerances, I'd have one made if doing it again) attached. Got rid of 11 marmots in a bit over a week & parked it until last night when shooting 100 yards with a .177 and I wondered if it was A) still holding air-yup and B) shot at 100 as I'd only blasted close range varmint's. Refilling every 7 shots to 2,800psi it hit's (seemingly near center but I didn't walk) a 2" metal spinner every time. Not bad and that's with less than 150 shots through it to date.

Tonight I've got paper at 100 for as soon as the winds die as it seems piss poor ergonomics & trigger & all it may actually group well at that range w/34.9 JSB. And a whole lot more compact and lighter than a career 707.

Went from a huben, to an Airforce. And now have two Airforce, and a Rex p (powerful little korean Airforce clone)

Lightweight platform, and very easy to repair and customize. The first Airforce has been in 65 fpe to 15 fpe configurations. It currently sits low power, and is used for practice at home since it matches the ergonomics of he ones used while out

I do see a bit of chatter about Airforce on here and on gta and think they are shot pretty often
