Air Forse Texan SS .357

Hello guys
Can someone tell me what fps should I expect from Texan SS .357 with 125 grain slug? I can't find any speed related information on .357.
@MP_usa You’re right. There isn’t much info that I have found with shot string data for the .357 Texan. Just a bunch of target photos. Here’s a thread where a post towards the end has handwritten chronograph data for the .357 Texan.

I just bought an SS and a Carbine.
My SS stock is anemic compared to the carbine.
I believe the SS I have has a weak spring.
But 130 grain stock I got 800 fps
The carbine gets 930 fps

Both of mine are most accurate with 150 plus grains.
Carbine with the donnyfl emperor V3 is a lil more quiet than the SS......but longer and more expensive.

Bingo.. I am getting the same 830 fps.. You got both of them new? The second question - is there any difference between carbine and SS? I was under impression the only difference is the moderator which should not have anything to do with speed performance.. Thank you for your information - I will be calling Air Force tomorrow bace on your input

Same gun, barrel and internals just SS has the sound Loc system.

Hello. I called Air Force today. They said that low 800 is correct fps - which is really low.. But how then your Carbine is doing good fps? Did you buy it new? Or may be it was power tuned by someone?
I called today as well for a few reasons.
They claim the SS and carbine pushed a 170 grain at 790 fps
I believe that to be true if 150 grains are in the mid to upper 800's

I also believe that my SS barrel requires .358 or .359 to attain higher fps.
In the Carbine the .357 fit tight and I can barely push in a lil more than half of the slug

Same slug on the SS i can push it all the way in.

A tighter slug will build more pressure to keep the valve open longer just as a heavier slug will do the same

Once I get replacement parts in ill experiment.

Right now both my .357 which are brand new cracked the valve poppet in half and leak.

Causes are
To loose or lite of a slug.
Lite slug allows the valve to close faster slamming the poppet closed.

Ok.. Did they tell you about the bullet size for the SS or you guessing? Yes - I sought its weird - but my bullet is getting completely in - so I can barely feel it with my finger.. And its not small bullet.. I have American Arms (Slayer ) - it loves these bullets! But - bottom line - you are sure that your carbine is doing over 930 fps with 130 grain slug -and that gun has no modifications to it? (because they said - you must be mistaking). I told them about you - when you called they must knew.. Did you talk to Max?

Did not talk to max

They told me the Texan .357 actually needs .358
Then why isn't it a ".358"?
Told them no barrel manufacturer can mass produce every barrel identical.
I have two guns, same manufacturer......one fits .357 perfect the other fits it loose.

Note:
No two chronograph are the same.
My 850 fps may be a diffrent chronograph 820 fps

Humidity, altitude, lead hardness, temperature all play a part and vary results.
Yesterday I shot the 130 gr in my weaker texan at 880 fps.
Didn't try the stronger carbine cause the valve blew apart.

Please keep me posted with your research on this topic
No more research.
New valves on the way.
Made my own poppet last night and its working.

Airforce says this is the first they ever heard of this happening.
