air pistols

"what are the best air pistols for plinking? are there any good accurate pellet repeaters?"

One air pistol is not only the best air pistol for plinking, but also one of the most accurate repeaters; the Ataman AP16.

"From Russia with love"... and emulating a 1911 profile, also LUST!

Pp700 if you don't mind single loading, otherwise, most any repeating pistol below 500 will have issues with either ergonomics or accuracy. Take your pick.

My accuracy standards are quite high, so I'm aware that many people might be happy with something like an umarex co2 repeater

I have two pp800 myself, ergonomics are bad on both wood and synthetic. I fixed the wood grip myself. Both extremely accurate. I have 2 1322s, one is a pcp repeater both have upgraded target barrels. I also have a brocock grandprix, all are single hole groupers

THERE IS NO BEST...period. Otherwise, there would be ONE automobile manufacturer, ONE phone manufacturer, ONE computer manufacturer, ONE, couch manufacturer, ONE pen manufacturer, etc..!

Moreso, when a person asks for...THE BEST...He/she, most often has very little knowledge of styles, calibures (in this case), OR...prices ! He / she has NOT done their own homework. They want others to do it for them.

Seems people that ask for the "best", really don't have much of any idea about what's really going on. I see this same thing in automotive and other forums.

No disrespect to the original poster, but he should do some...just a little...of his own homework before asking a question like this.

Yeah everyone has a favourite, for different reasons that suit their needs.

This is mine. Just behind the superb P1 in power but edging it in accuracy and looks.

Compact, pocketable in a hunting coat, rat fart quiet compared to a PCP…no reliance on bottles, bulbs, or pumping…zero temp sensitivity issues.

If not this pistol, i would choose a P1/45 which i would super tune similarly…fitting an Aussie Red seal and a mini rear guide.

Cannot compete with the PCP for super long range accuracy but I choose a rifle for above 18 yds..

Interesting how answers to seemingly simple questions can sometimes evolve/devolve into complex answers/opinions/debates/philosophies, huh? Is especially so with simple questions about not-so-simple subjects... example- "What makes women tick?"

My answers that the AP16 is "the best" answer to the questions, either or both, was made in full awareness that it might not be the best answer in everybody's opinion. I was purposely being provocative in hopes any disagreement(s) might provide evidence of why the AP16 is NOT "the best" answer to the questions (in someone's opinion). That none materialized does not mean I take that as a win, or that I'm right. I don't.

However for provocation's sake, which done well makes debate more interesting and lively, although I don't entirely disagree with "THERE IS NO BEST…period.", I certainly disagree that that provocative statement made more-so with CAPS, bold and underline (COMBINED) is incorrect in its uncompromising and all-encompassing nature. I would be interested in hearing arguments against the best athlete in Olympic history is Michael Phelps. Or perhaps returning closer to being related to an airgun forum, and in light of recent events reported on this forum, the best combination competitive-airgunner/airgun-bulder is Mike Niksch.

In summary, obviously bandg got it right! I'll happily concede that. Furthermore, what an awesome example of an exceedingly rare, and profoundly simple answer to the OP's (not-so?) simple questions. Great work, B!

Airngasman, I was thinking the same way when i replied…..trying to stir up a response…

For the record….all things being equal and noise not being an issue, I believe your choice to be the best….just too darn noisy for my liking.

As regard a springer pistol, the one i posted here might just be the best, save for a FWB 65 i once rebuilt for someone….but too big and clumsy for me…

Not my preferred pellet…just been trying out some none lead stuff.

I have a book,"the Best of Everything"....and it does have one best of everything..it is 12,443 pages long and weighs close to 557# .I am on page 1769 now.

I admit I have skipped pages....I was longing for the best nail clippers.....I found out they are all made in Japan....

I think when someone asks questions like that; what is the use of telling them something the don't know?

Jesse,it is because they may be able to narrow the choices down and look each one up and see what is Best for Them......

Oh sorry....

I have long admired your awesome LP53, Steveoo; ever since I first read about it. Think I'd agree with you that, in my opinion (also), your customized LP53 is the best non-recoilless spring-piston pistol I'm aware of. No disrespect to P-1s intended, which I consider the best stock recoiling spring-piston pistols.

I cured the just too darn noisy part of the AP16 with a Huma Mini moderator, while avoiding making it just too darn cumbersome or goofy-looking.

BTW, that mini red-dot sight really compliments your LP! Let me know if you ever get tired of that sweet pistola.

The "best" ?

Drill running plinking that transfers to your powder burner?

Most accurate?

Holsterable?

A PCP semi?

Quietest?

Styer semi probably most accurate.

I run a Sig P226 co2

And a Sig MPX pcp

Both pistols for plinking drills. Accurate enough for me (10 yards) but many would rather something much more accurate.

I'd love the accuracy of Styer 50 but it's very expensive. Too expensive.
