You need a nice 66R for that Sport. Gimme a call. I have an extra! It's a shame not to get the most from your 127!! I also have a nice JM stock you can put on it to pretty it up.

I have no trouble getting mine out to 50 yards with a scope. They are so accurate even out that far. Hard to believe that they are on er 40 years old!!

Hey John - if you decide not to finish out that ARH custom stock, let me know. I'm still toying with the idea of setting one up as a shooter with a newer 124 action I have, as I find it very hard to take one of the pristine F-120s out in the woods to shoot them. Maccari no longer makes those stocks, so I'm not aware of any other source.

If you do keep it and finish it, make sure to show pictures when you're done.

. .. .. this beeman 124 package has a little rusting on the barrel. the fella i resealed it for last month had eye surgery. i dunno why for sure, but he later asked if he could just sell it. i offered to give him a .25 co2 2250 crosman-type or anything easier to shoot , but he refused and wouldnt really get into why he just didnt want to shoot. but me he told me some rather supernatural stories of his times with this gear - once he shot a bird at dusk with the sun rt at the bird's back, says he saw the sun light thru the bird's chest, then the hole closed up and the bird just flew off. trip. i'm sitting there with my mouth open, shocked - and snapped out of it asking if the gun were haunted or something (maybe that'd explain this sudden change in strategy) . ...."nope , but liten to these other times" .....wow.... he mentioned it had about everything one could get from beeman in 1984 , and had all the papers and reciepts where he had spent $748 back then.....this combo has everything but the boxes. i didnt even know williams made slings, but that's original, too. i've been really playing around with it - it loves those 9.7 grain winchester domes from tractor supply and sends them out at a smooth , accurate 838 fps. (these domed winchesters are great pellets - and about 6 bux.) 860's with 8 grain crosman pellets. i had it listed on the classifieds here , but asked it to be removed - didnt want more controversy. the older gentleman mentioned that the supertune included nickle plating on the inside or something....it shoots harder than any other 124 i have ever repaired or chrono'ed ... i put a more powerful scope on it tonight.....i'm considering to sell the blue ribbon 66r with those rings (which are interesting - adjustable windage rings of what seems to be steel) , but ...... idk .... it is a VERY solid scope , but 7x ? i put a 4-16x air attack on it so i could see the tiny .177 holes at the 60 yard cardboard next time. grouped a little over an inch out there at 60 yds with the 7x hakko scope at dusk. but why do you guys like the 66r scope so much ? this reciept says he paid $150+ back then for it.... i had listed it for $220 shipped as is in photos --- but why are these hakko scopes so sought after ? i understand why the short scopes are much desired - the newer 6x short scopes were $650 back when i worked the scope guys in 2010......... and i find anything on what was done in thee special super-tunes.... what was he trying to tell me about the nickle platings ?

First let me congratulate you on your find. It is a great score to find a complete package like that. What is the serial number?

The chrome plating process was a Beeman option called "Super-tuning". I had it done to my first FWB127 when I ordered it. If I remember correctly, back in 1983 it cost an extra 47.50. It was supposed to increase power and extend the life of the parts.

The 66R scopes are collectable and highly sought after. This is due i part that they are so well made and they have nostalgic quality. 220 is a fair price. With rings...a bit more. Hang on to it. It was made to go with that 124.

In so far as being haunted....LOL!!!

i'm having trouble with the rings on that 66r..... it's llike the rings are droop compensating rings or something, and i cannot get enough elevation for the scope. the 66r does not have many clicks when the adjustment knob it turned.... who made these side-adjustable rings, anyway ? are they old sportsmatch rings, or some brittish make ?

I have a new fwb sport. The comparison is sort of apples and oranges. They both shoot excellent. However, the similarities are few.

The newer version is a totally new rifle. It is built and intended as a family heirloom. FWB intentionally made these to be a high end sport rifle. The bluing on most is excellent and the stocks are gorgeous. IMO, they are a step up from the older versions.

One exception is the trigger. You'd think that after all the criticism the old trigger received that FWB would have stepped up its game. Not the case IMO. Definitely leaves one wanting....especially at the price point.

Best case scenario is the newer one is going to end up being collectable due to rarity because of lack of sales....maybe!

.well , the new ones certainly look better....i was suprised at how well ergonomically balanced the long model 124d's are. i call it my 'long legged greman girl' (like the girl in that racy ad of the 120 in this thread, but blonde hair and blue eyes. the newer sport model has come down quite a bit in price. do you the new fwb sporter is better than a walther lgv ?

I was Robert Law's last employee. I was the service manager for the last five years of the company. I still live in Grantsville.
