AIR RIFLES USE IN CONNECTICUT?

Hi Huntnbdgr. I live in Ct. There are no laws against target shooting on your property with an air rifle. If the police show up, as long as your not a convicted felon or hunting your fine.Your even allowed to use it for pesting, as long as you don't harvest the meat as then it would be considered hunting. They can also be used for hunting small game with a hunting lisence. I'm not sure of any ranges down in your area. I'm lucky enough to have some property where I shoot. Come spring I'm building a permanent structure to shoot from. I live in Southington and if your ever up this way you can come shoot on my property. I have targets and shooting galleries from 50 yards out to 125 yards. Just send me a private message.

Update. Still no laws against it but check your city or towns ordinances. It is banned in New Britain. Here is the text from New Britain’s code of ordnances.

Sec. 16-78. - Sale or use of air rifles and slingshots prohibited.
No person shall carry, use or discharge within the city limits any slingshot, bow and arrow, or any air gun, air rifle or similar device for the discharge of shot, bullet or projectile by compressed air.

(Code 1970, § 15-10)

Hi my airgunner friend , please excuse me for jumping in. I couldn't help it being I from NewYork, your neighbor. You know NY is on a whole different level. It's hard to find a place where you can go plinking. I checked online. And it says it's completely legal as long as you keep 150 yards away from anything. Residential structures, camping sites, you don't attach you targets to any trees and stuff, you don't shoot across road ways, or bodies of water like ponds and rivers. And you must shoot into a backdrop. I get it. But when I call enforcement agencies. Everyone says so.ething different. You see my frustration. I dont6want to wind up getting in trouble for trying to have some. That's why I'm reaching out. Maybe I can pay you the range fee, AND I can go shoot with you. It'll help you towards your ammo. If it's OK with you.

Aren’t airguns and “everything else” illegal in NYC? If you’re willing to drive I will host you at my club… PM me if you wish…
Thank you L.Leon, I'm with it, I'm willing to drive a little bit. I enjoy airgunning occasionally. Thank you. Hope I'm doing this right. I'm new to this forum, not too familiar with it.
