If you don't shoot much, and you already own a decent shop air compressor, boosters make some sense. I have owned a ShoeboxF8, so I have experienced a few hitches, including running the two on different power circuits, adding dryers, etc. It did get the job done albeit slowly.
I now own an Omega Air Charger, and it is like a whole new world. If I had made the jump up front, I would have saved myself a lot of money.
