I bought a 22 AV Avenger a couple weeks ago, degassed, adjusted the trigger and turned down the regulator, then put it away full regret from buying it.
My wife talked me into buying it, I was having trouble keeping my two 22 Sheetrock rock guns up and running, sheet rock guns to me are inside Airguns tuned to just stick in the Sheetrock when you get a ldc clip. One a much modded prod and the other which made me swear off china guns, , a cursed Diana Skyhawk.
And of course being Chinese junk, I just knew it was going to leak, that and sounding like a abused box of cornflakes being pulled off a cliff by a Ford deselect truck with a bad engine rattle, did not help my confidence.
I had learned the Avenger is hard to turn down so I figured it was way too powerful for inside work.
After a while all the Avenger posts got to me so I went to work tuning it and setting it up as a inside 10 yard gun.
Tuning was easy, all the way in and all the way out for maximum low power gave me 780 fps with cheap Crosman hps, still at the upper limits of what I wanted power wise, it works.
I added a Emperor and being a 1880’s gun leather maker, I laminated three pieces of saddle leather together and crafted it into a a cheek riser to line up the Hawke 4x16 Sidewinder.
The result was a very long, comfortable mild mannered rifle that shoots tiny round groups with cheap pellets.
The leak has not manifested itself yet, but being a china gun and a pcp, I am sure it will.
When I pick it up it still sounds like it will self destruct before P.A gets the next shipment of replacement wood stocks in.
Now as far as shooters spending a ton of money modding cheap guns, it is their money and their guns and simply not any bodies business but their own.
