Does anyone have any suggestions for the Airacuda max shooting slugs for accuracy at 100yds? I'm just wanting to hunt small game out to 100yds and need advice on slug choices and settings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA
I was thinking maybe i should go with the lightest slug that my gun likes. I just don't know what direction to take with it. I guess i will order a slug variety kit. I would like to get dies and a press and make my own slugs. Thats only if i found a combination that was accurate at 100yds.Oh, this'll be fun. Start finding a slug it sort of likes then tune from there, don't overpower it, won't end well.
Ok I'll look up something for 25cal and see what they are able to do. Most of what I've seen guys are trying to shoot heavy slugs. I feel like i could get a flatter trajectory with a lighter slug vs a heavy slug. The FX hybrid slugs are very impressive on YouTube.Masterblaster,
Several YouTube videos on stretching the MAX .25 out to a hundred, haven't seen one for .22, then again, I've not looked for MAX .22 information, you might find something. Suggest purchasing slug variety samplers from H&N, JSB or ZANS. These will provide a number of different weights to see what your MAX prefers. For instance, recently purchased .30 slug sampler from ZANs to test in a Uragan 2, six different weights from 45.5 to 68 grains, so I can eliminate what doesn't group and concentrate on what does. WM
I'm partial to pellets but Uragan 2 (700mm) has unchoked slug barrel so might as well explore the option. Testing today shows best groups with 54 and 59 grains, lighter and heavier ones, not so much. Sampler slug box was an inexpensive way to narrow things down. Best of Luck on your search, WMOk I'll look up something for 25cal and see what they are able to do. Thank you for the reply. I appreciate the help. With the JTS's short barrel & modest power .... NSA 20.3 should do well for you !!
Size tho not sure being the barrel is choked. Likely end up at .216 or .217 sizing.
Hey motorhead if i slugged my barrel then measured the pellet or slug with mics. Lets say its .216 should i order .216 or .217 so that it fits a little tighter? With the JTS's short barrel & modest power .... NSA 20.3 should do well for you !!

I'm thinking NSA offers sample boxes ?Hey motorhead if i slugged my barrel then measured the pellet or slug with mics. Lets say its .216 should i order .216 or .217 so that it fits a little tighter?
Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.Mine goes well with nsa .216 slugs in 20.3 grain
.
Hey Motorhead i recieved my order of NSA 20.2gr slugs today in .2175 and .217. I was checking them for weight and diameter accuracy and found that both boxes had the same diameter slugs in .2175. I'm going to try them out and see how they do. What should i do if i need the size they didn't send? Have you had any dealings with them like this?I'm thinking NSA offers sample boxes ?
Stay light at 20.3, but see if you can get 216 2165 217 2175 & 218
If that don't work .217 is what most of us use BTW
I have digital calipers that do measure to .0005 but are you saying they won't measure that accurately?Contact NSA and tell them the findings
Tho would QUESTION ... how your measuring said samples ?
.0005" is not going to be measured with calipers.
*** if they chamber differently, there different sizes
I shot 10rds of the NSA 20.2gr at 50yds and shot a 2 1/4" group. I was wondering should i adjust my hammer spring because there is a pretty loud spring sound when it fires?Hey motorhead if i slugged my barrel then measured the pellet or slug with mics. Calipers in the machinist world are sketchy at best to be trusted at .001" increments. Want .0005" capabilities use a thimble micrometer.I have digital calipers that do measure to .0005 but are you saying they won't measure that accurately?
