Tuning AirArms S510 - No firing Issue...any ideas?

Recently purchased a .22 S510 from another fellow AG on this forum. We shot close to 300 pellets through it and it was working beautifully. We were up bench shooting this weekend and the air pressure was getting low, maybe 100-110 bar, and all of a sudden, it just stopped firing air. The trigger spring works, but just no air. I quickly topped off the gun to 220 bar and tried firing again to no avail. I then opened the mechanism and used a cleaning rod to push the pellet out. The spring mechanism in the cocking mechanism is clearly working and cycles normally, there's just no air expelled from the barrel.

The gun is regulated.

I'm new to PCPs so wondering if this might be something I can fix or if it would have to be sent to a repair location? Anyone know who might be able to shed some light possible issues?

Thanks in advance!

If an after market regulator .... few possibles

Poppet head has fractured having stem driven threw the head. seal is maintained but no stem protrusion for hammer to strike on.

Regulator has frozen up in the sealed position and no air is passing into plenum now

**You state cocking mechanics cycle .... BUT DOES IT ACTUALLY COCK and hammer fires when trigger is pulled ?

If not, possible broken trigger sear or adjustment screws on trigger blade are loose and sear now is not catching ?

All these are WAG !!! Wild ass guesses ............

MOTORHEAD:

First off, thank you for the prompt reply. Interest to hear of the possible issues.

Yes, it does actually cock the gun and the hammer fires when the trigger is pulled.... there's just ZERO air released when this happens. All else from what I can tell is status-quo in terms of the 300 shots or so I had with it before this happened.

I like the WAGs, they are far more likely than anything I can come up with.

Side note, do you happen to know how I can take the now filled to 220 bar air tank off safely to open the insides up to see what might be happening?

Thanks for any info/ideas.

Found that the AA S510 typically suffers from a broken top-sear. So, I opened the firing mechanism up and sadly, that doesn't appear to be the problem. The sear seems to be in (albeit a little greasy) perfect working order.

Any other ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated from those in the PCP world out there. Th

ank you!

The guns pressure gauge / MANIFOLD has a single crew anchoring it to the main tube. Start loosening this screw securing the aluminum gauge manifold and the small 1.5mm o-ring will blow out and air will leak out. ( Gun won't blow up but the initial POP will startle you !!! ) Once o-rings POPS, stop unscrewing the block screw and let it air out.

From there take it apart and chase down the issue.

Hi, I'm not too much help but you're not alone - my sons Air Arms S510 has exactly the same problem. It was to be used on the 8th October at our local target shooting club. Like yours pellets failed to be shot even though the pressure was at 200 bar. No air can out although a week previously it worked very well.

Any information on the problem and importantly the cure/repair will be appreciated. I plan a visit to a gun smith for advice shortly so will share any useful feedback.

Good Luck.

John

I am with Motorhead on the broken poppet stem. I went to PA and they don't show one for the XS. They show it for the s410 and s510 EXTRA. I don't know if they used the same valve with the regulated guns. They refer to it as the firing valve. Right now they have eleven refurb guns. The first regulated guns had regulator problems and PA had refurbs up the ying yang. So why all the refurbs now?

From those that have inquired, an update from Venturi Air this morning:

The gunsmith found a lot of moisture in the rifle's reservoir, on the regulator and the exhaust valve which was seized.

It seems that there is little or no moisture separation/filtration in whatever mechanism was used to charge the tank.

Hope this helps someone else out there… watch your filters!!
