Other AirForce Knockoff First Look + Other Pinty Guns

I will get a video off to Pinty today. The video here details my issue very nicely. The fit of the bolt body to the bore is "rather casual" not quite hammer handle in a bucket but sloppy enough that it jams hard unless guided. Other than that issue? A tray for loading would be most welcome, a tray is not compatible with the design. A device like a snail style capper as used for muzzleloaders would be most welcome.

There is a bit of slop for sure. Maybe delrin spacers or similar. Still, the slop in mine isnt bad enough to warrant much fuss. Did a recrown on the barrel and tinkered with the trigger some. The machining on the sear engagement was quite bad.

So cleaned that up a bit and profiled it slightly. I think the hammer face will need to be profiled as well (per @thammer pics earlier in this thread). I'm just not comfortable with doing it.
Still, it wasnt grouping badly in my preliminary testing (pics earlier in this thread).
I did try a stock AF hammer and it worked, but was significantly lighter than the PForce hammer and I was getting much lower velocities. I may try a stock hammer with the Condor extra hammer weight today and see how that goes.
It may be my imagination, but the trigger seemed a bit lighter with the AF hammer, possibly because it wasnt just a flat end for the sear to catch on.

LOL I like the PForce name :)

I have a spare 70g hammer if you want it.
I'm keeping the 90g in Frank.

Also, Teflon tape is easier than making a delrin bushing. Less robust and you may have to do it again. But pull the barrel, wrap some tape, done.

That would be amazing, sir... Do appreciate it. The tape idea sounds great, I just would wonder about the durability of it. But either way, it's a cheap gun so cheap fixes are best!!

Just did a quick test here and threw in the extra Condor hammer weight.

So a stock AF hammer weighs 48g and the extra Condor weight adds 18g for a total of 66g. So the 70g should work out perfect.

Did notice the trigger a bit better with the AF bits installed, though still not great or even good.

Velocity with the added hammer weight was right at the 850fps mark using 18gr JSB's on PW 2. So I'm hoping the little extra from the 70g will allow me to keep around the 830-850 mark if I turn the PW all the way down.

Of note, also was the cocking did seem a bit smoother, though as noted earlier, mine smoothed out nicely after several shots. Still, everything felt 'tighter' I guess, but could be perception.

Well I'm going to hold off "fixing" my brand new freight damaged gun. I can get it to work manipulating the bolt just so, it is sloppy fit and I can see damage to the receiver tube from the root of the bolt. The bolt handle made it all the way out evidenced by the size of the hole in the box. I expect to hear back from Pinty tomorrow or Tuesday. Resolve the bolt issue, fix the atrocious trigger (thanks thammer) and this is a hell of a gun for the money. Really enjoy the light weight, yet the gun does not feel cheap. Now if I can get the takedown lever back in my 1911 all will be semi right with the world. No idiot marks allowed.

People have owned and shot this argun for weeks now.

What is the opinion on it?
Is it worth the $240/$250 price?
Does it need a lot of work to make it shoot well?
Unless you like to tinker or don't mind the horrible trigger I think there's better options in the similar price range.

I'm willing to give them opportunity to resolve, with the damage I'd like to see mine replaced. Not ready for prime time! Seems the hole in the box and needing to guide the bolt home are related issues. Fix that and fix the trigger? The gun has a great feel to it the few shots I have been able to fire. Very consistent I think it is accurate but the trigger makes that tough. I hope to be pleased by Pinty's customer service.

So far 2 unhappy people with the M18/Talon clone.

How about the bullpup or the rifle?
I would imagine much of the same inconsistencies with any of them. If you like the look of the AF guns and like to tinker and experiment, I think it's fine. Funky cocking, but mine is smooth... trigger still crap... but accurate and actually exceeded my expectations. Would I recommend it as a one and only gun? NO... but I think many of us who took the first plunge understood what we could be getting in to.
