Airforce Slug Press

My setup has an arm that pushes the finished slug into a container. I can press 1000-1200 per hour but you are moving pretty good. I usually press 200 at a time and that's 10 minutes.

Im using the rce sea girt press.
If you could add an arm to any press it about doubles speed.

Mike
@thomasair I can’t recall if we’ve discussed it before, but I’m are you also running RCE dies on that press or Dave Corbin dies?

I'm using dies I made myself. If you are making slugs without hollow points the arm would work for any setup I would think.

Where do you get the arm from?

Thanks

You guys, You don't "reload" for the fun or being cheaper. It's to get better accuracy and custom options, saving money comes way down the road.
I got into reloading in my 20's solely for the savings and availability. I have quite a few obsolete/low production calibers in my collection. In the last few years with the crazy cost increases, I added a couple standard rounds I load for solely on cost. I hate reloading, it's slow/tedious/boring as hell for me. If it weren't for money and obsolescent rounds I would never reload.

Im about to pull the trigger for a Presslug machine, its around 1700 Euro in Europe, want to make 6.35 slugs for my M4,but calculating price of slugs,i usualy use ZAN 6.35 33 gr / 2.2 grams slugs ,with price of 14.5 Euro per box of 200,so its 0.07 eur for a slug, price of lead wire 6kg is 150 euro, its for around 2600 slugs of same weight,so my cost per swagged slug is around 0.06 euro, adding price of slugpress, think is better to continue with buying slugs, unless much cheaper quality lead wire but cant find anything good in Europe,so only satisfaction of making my own custom ammo is why i still considering buying it...

You don't get into making your own slugs to save money, unless you are doing large volumes, like you just figured out. You do it to make the best slugs for your gun. You can change the weight/length of the slug to get the best one for your gun. What I do is make about 10 or so slugs in 2 gr weight differences and shoot them to see what the gun likes the best. Then when you find it make a bunch of them.

Well mate, since im in airgunning since 1984,sure i know picking the right slug/pellet is pretty picky and time consuming path,so having ability to make custom ones is ultimate dream of every airgun enthusiast, but if u tested almost 200 types of different slugs for every airgun u own, finding the top notch one and comparing it with the customs u made, can probably or not give you few % better accuracy and performance, but also making own slugs investing in equipment you expect that labor plus material gives you an edge in cost, especialy if you shoot around 500-1000 rounds weekly.

I have been in to the PCP airguns since around 1999. So I have a huge inventory of different pellets and slugs now, many I don't even use anymore. What is nice about making your own slugs is you don't need to buy all of the different slugs to try out. You can have a smaller inventory on hand and be just fine. I wish Corbin would come up with a pellet swage so I could make my own pellets also.
