Airforce AirForce Talon valve won't seat in Huben Max-ATH Universal Regulator

I bought (from a Huben authorized vendor in the US) a Huben Max-ATH 50cc Universal regulator for my AirForce Talon SS, pre-Spin-Loc. The valve won't fully screw into the regulator, leaving about a 3/32" gap between the valve's base and the regulator. It looks like it needs a relief cut in the regulator threads to accommodate the small collar at the base of the valve. I don't know if this is a manufacturing defect or not at this point. I have an email in to the vendor and he responded promptly and said he'd never seen that problem but that he'd do some looking and check for me. The group here is perhaps a larger universe, so I thought I'd post the photos here and ask if anyone else has seen this.

I'll keep the vendor out of this at this point. I think he's trying to figure out what happened too. I wonder if this is a one-off manufacturing defect where somebody forgot to put the relief cut in for the collar, or a design flaw that Huben hadn't anticipated. Anybody else seen this?

Mine are fine, 2 for 2.
What is the source for the tophat valve?

My two are
Trajectron high flow, left
Aliexpress High flow right

The vendor in the US is an authorized Huben dealer. He got a nonsense response from Huben along the lines of "the threads are worn and that's why it won't screw into the regulator" I'm working with the vendor and hopefully the Huben customer service rep didn't understand the problem. I sent an updated photo illustrating that tanks from AirForce have a recess prior to the threads.
