This has to be my next project! I live close to the ocean and this is just too cool. Even using it in lakes and the Sacramento River would be awesome! The idea is that you pump up air into the large pipe as a reservoir and then attach a big ball valve that you can open quickly. You freeze your bait into tubular shells and stick it down the barrel tube. When you open the valve you get a couple hundred yards of flight! This is an amazing way to blend my two favorite hobbies airguns and fishing. I will let you guys know how it turns out! I am legit excited about this one guys. 
 
We had a couple that does science demonstrations at our club picnic one year to entertain the kids. They had a air cannon that was built from pvc pipe about 10 ft long. It shot tennis palls from our 1000 yd firing line to between the 500 & 400 yd line. It didn’t take much pressure at all to do it. So I think bait for 200 yards should be doable. Just remember to open the reel bail before firing. 200 yards is a long swim to get your rod back

Check your fishing regs. to see if it is legal, all areas are different , do not know anything about Cali . Years ago in Wash. on the Columbia River guy's used RC propelled small boats for sturgeon fishing to drop of their bait .It was so effective that the fish & game got it banned . The guy's in Oregon use sling shots to get the bait out farther very very effective & are still able to do it . We use kayaks for salmon & steelhead fishing to take are lures out into deeper water , & the boaters in our area hate us . They refer to us bank anglers as beach maggots . Best of luck Darell

Bank Maggots! My favorite line!! LOL

I steelhead and Salmon fish a lot from a drift boat. We give the bank guys plenty of space on most of the rivers we fish. We still joke with them though. I love that line!

Stoti When I first heard that phrase I lol too .The boaters get mad because we are parallel to the flow of the river & we are able to run 3 lures or spin n glows off of one line. If done right no tangles, we can out fish most of the anchored boats but not the trollers . Very effective but have to work with tide flow on the Columbia .I like drift fishing also .

Seem like fun but not a very practical way to get bait out 100+ yards

With the right rod, reel, line, lead and technique then getting a baited hook 150yards plus is doable, some tournament caster can do over 300yards.

I routinely fish at 80-120 yards, I can cast further but accuracy suffers so for longer distances or when using soft baits, I use a RC bait boat.

@stoti nice drift boat set up. Where is that if I missed it? Looks like Salmon River country in Idaho. For rafters you have "river maggots" which are kayakers who expect the rafts to carry all their gear so they can have fun.

And if any of you haven't fished around the Sun Valley area on Silver Creek give it a try some time, and the educated trout who look at even the best fly fishermen (fly only spring creek) as peasants.
