Airgun, Car, Police

I lived in Hillsboro Oregon too and it was certainly like you’d expect from what you’d imagine California cities being like. Everyone up in everyone’s business. I worked in the hospital there though. Regardless the culture DID NOT sit well with me. Growing up in Salem in the 80s and 90s it was certainly mind your own business culture compared to elsewhere I traveled. Here in la grande though it’s old time country. We have an All Lives Matter billboard down one of the 3 main roads lol

Awesome. I lived in Bethany for 2 years and worked at Providence St. Vincents (I’m a physician). Loved the topography and outdoors there... but yah the Antifa terrorists, BLM blue haired cultists, and SJW really got on my nerves. They are literally fascists (Irony is off the scale). Glad I bugged out last year.

Moved to western Mass for a far better job and so wifey would be close to family... never could have imagined it is far WORSE here. At least in OR I could actually own an AR. The Fake Indian Senator here had all assault platforms banned near entirely.

So just to shoot at a range, or own or transport a firearm of any kind, you must get an LTC. Guess what? The Governor has put a hold on processing any LTC application in western Mass Since April. So my application is not even being reviewed. Currently consulting a 2A attorney.

I moved into liberal communist hell.

I'm looking to move to the mountains, and Alaska, Wyoming, and Idaho are the logical choices for those considerations, though Idaho does have a state income tax. New Hampshire believe it or not is very favorable in many areas, but due to it's small geographic footprint, I'm afraid that it may not be good when kids have grand kids. Heck in Idaho, patriot groups line the streets with automatic weapons when trouble is threatened. Gun control there means using both hands.

For Los Angeles cops, retiring to Idaho is standard.

You have to remember there is a new generation of law enforcement. Not trashing the new hires, they just have a different way of dealing with it. More seasoned officers tend to expect a gun in the car. Newer officers not so much.

Its not uncommon around these parts to hear-

Officer - are there weapons in the vehicle?

Driver - Yes

Officer - ok. leave yours in the holster and I will do the same

Then business as usual.

A little common sense and respect (both ways) goes a long way.

Its a shame adults don't always act like adults.

So Michael, you live in Texas and don't run a front plate? All this time I thought pretty highly of you. The law says 2 plates, what good reason do you and all the other offenders I see have to do this? Just because law inforcement has decided not to ticket people is no excuse to be a slacker.

So THAT is what that hide member button is for...

and it works too ...

Lmao I just saw this interaction. If only we could hide our cars when the police pull right behind us.

If you think of the millions of interactions people have with the police per year, and the 3+ guns per person in America, we are just blessed to have as safe and as vigilant a police force as we have. I have lived in South America, and the police down there are corrupt and not joking around. Here there is nearly complete accountability (I won’t say perfect because nothing is), and as long as you follow the laws and act respectfully and calm to the officer you will nearly always be treated the same in my experience. With my airguns I tend to treat them like a firearm, carrying them in the trunk boxes or bagged and my LDC located elsewhere as to not confuse anyone. I also tend to shut off my car and have the window rolled down while my hands are at 10&2 with my eyes facing forward. I usually get pulled over for DUI checks, and being that I don’t drink at all that is usually more enjoyable for me than it is for them.

Fun reading this one. When I took my CCW class, in CA, retired sheriff was instructor. He made it clear, do not tell officer you have gun on person, unless asked to vacate vehicle. Also where I live, having a permit is not golden. Just crossing into another city limit and you may be illegal. Bottom line, should they confiscate gun, even if legal, you may not get it back, or at least see it again for quite some time.

I was working "Snowcap" as a contractor back in '92 and was sad to note that during our operations when UMOPAR wanted to search a house they just walked in and told everyone to get out. If there was something that needed to be seized they just took it. No receipt. No Bill of Rights at all. My heart went out to the people as well as the good men working a dangerous problem.

Given the direction we are going ... well probably better leave that for another time.

I've never been asked if I had any firearms in my vehicle, this must be some sort of recent thing.

I'd never admit to having anything other than drivers license, current registration, and proof of insurance.

Back in the day when I did the LEO thing, if someone gives up that firearm or anything else they could be charged with, prior to being mirandized, it's going to get thrown out in court, so why would you even go there?

I don't own a firearm. Never have. Never could justify having one. Lived in the inner city all my life. Just me.

Had a new neighbor call the police reporting there was a man with a gun going behind her neighbors property. The other neighbor gave me a key to shoot gs from her shed. Long story short, 8 cops show up with hands on guns. It was a weird situation. The inquiring officer was almost begging me to give him the correct answers as his partners stood back waiting and ready. The property owner had called the police and told them it was a false alarm. I could hear it over the walkie talkie.

The only other time is when I had an alarm system installed, the installer left a door open. The alarm went off, and I silenced it...supposedly in test mode for the first week. The police came out on the alarm and started turning door knobs. I was asleep and jumped up to see what was going on. They were entering my house as I rushed to the door. It would have been ugly if I was armed. I was half sleep and startled. JMO

PS... I have/had several gun manufacturer stock holdings that have performed well...RGR, VSTO, SWBI...
