The reason it looks so close is because when I place camera 1 behind the shooter, I zoom in so the viewer can plainly see the ball over the shooters shoulder. If you notice before I start walking the tracks you will see I un-zoom the lens and you see the shooting station in its entirety. The scope cam and the 3rd down range cams all allow more viewing angles just incase any one of them fails, plus it just cool to see and hear from so many angles."Bizill"Haji, I almost called BS on your 200 yards at first until you walked out to it. It's weird the way your lens made it look so close as you were taking shots, I mean you could see the ball and your gun at the same time. On my vid, you cannot see the ball at all. You can see it explode, but you can't see it as it lies there. But when you started walking things looked much more in perspective and just how far you walked. Good shooting...and with a .22 cal.
I'm working on getting my video up in a few hours but might have to run to Costco first.
"Bizill"Davidsng, I feel your pain on the darn rangefinder! I made sure I did it first and not last as I can tell you were saddened thinking what a bad way to end a joyous moment! But we believe you. It isn't easy to get a shot of the rangefinder. I also loved your reaction when you basically threw your Bulldog down on the table! LOLOLOL! Congrats, man.
"TheLakeRat"Haji, it's funny you say that. I did that today. So i guess I "got'er done" ! Lol
David, i agree. It was a relief by the time i was done. i just went home and plopped into my recliner and had a beer or 3. Didn't even want to look at my gun.
Then we have to see all these videos that are doing it in a handful of shots and make us look bad.
But it all worked out so that's all that mattered.
I agonized over responding to the initial post of your shot in the subsequent commentary between yourself and other members. I did not want my commentary to come off as unsportsmanlike or jealous. With that being said, I think my submissions in previous community participation has earned me a reputation to speak to an issue from a position of neutrality."cturek"This is not really a competition - it is a drawing with a fun way If this was a competition - I would be expecting the new red FX at my doorstep in the coming weeks unless I see someone else get a "hole in one" first shot.
Well said Michael! I think some people are treating this like it is an Olympic qualifier competition - when this is just a challenge. And to respond to Hajimoto's comment about "fair is fair" and hitting the actual exploding ball. I understand your position and you're entitled to your own personal filter of how you perceive what all of this is. I am happy to say that a replacement exploding ball is being re-sent by AirGunDepot.com. (Also.... Psssst... Guess what... Looking at this whole thing from a bigger picture viewpoint... this is a grassroots marketing campaign by AirGunDepot.com to get us all to buy more stuff). In order to combine shipping and get my replacement ball, I also ordered a $70 AirForce bipod. Soooo..... their campaign has been more than successful at least from my wallet (and I love this kind of marketing so they have won my business for years to come)."Michael"Try to think of this as a "Challenge", not a contest or competition.
...I totally agree about this not being linear. Especially with my Talon SS pushing these .25 pellets at only 725 FPS. At 175+ yards I am not sure if I can even come close at making this shot as the trajectory is basically artillery lobs at that point with the pellet dropping 5 feet plus!"Bizill"Haji is correct on this one. There are rules. It was a challenge in itself to adhere to the rules, and remain mindful of unspoken rules. Another thing you didn't see is me cussing on film as I know there are little kiddies possibly watching. So the times I caught myself cursing... well, as you can imagine it was time for "take two" as I knew I couldn't use that vid being these vids will sort of represent AGD and AGN. Other forums I curse a lot but I conform to certain rules here. Rules are rules and the trouble I went through, WE ALL went and go through should be scrutinized.
Yes, this can and should be "fun" but it's not as fun when we're all sweating and dealing with issues but it wasn't quite fun for all of us! And those who've tried it know that there is a huge difference shooting from 100 yards out to 150. Then it gets much harder at 175...then you get out to 200+ and things get exponentially hard. It's not linear. Being entered into a drawing for hitting 150 is quite an accomplishment but I challenge everyone to try for 200. It'll melt your brain and test your patience! Not to impugn 150 yard shots.
