Airgun Field Target Informal Practice/ Competition, every Friday morn at United Sportsman in Concord - Diablo Rod and Gun

Thanks to CR, we're opening 5 shooting lanes with FT Targets to practice or compete with your friends every Friday morning.

$9 gets you a half day of shooting (9:00- 12:00 pm) for members, a little bit more for the public. These are our regular FT targets that we use at our monthly matches, at regulation distances.

Additionally, there is "free" (non ft match) shooting from benches or sticks before or after your turn through the targets. FT Targets are limited to 20 ft/lbs, .22 cal. The open shooting is limited to .25 cal and below. First time shooting with us? https://unitedsportsmen.com/waiver/

Fill out the waiver prior to coming out.

Diablo Rod and Gun club members get free air tank refills as well.

C'mon, be someone and shoot Field Target!

Diablo Rod and Gun host events for airguns throughout each month.

Max caliber for air guns is .25 cal,, and I've introduced a petition to have .30 cal pellet guns added. No slugs, darts or other projectiles.

Our Diablo airgun fun shoots are Wednesday and Friday mornings', and the public is welcome, with a slightly dearer fee for the shoot.

Diablo hosts a .22 practice for silhouettes on Wednesday afternoon's, and airguns can shoot alongside of the rimfires.

Again, the public can shoot as well, but need to pay a little bit more. Many airgunners bring their chrono out to the Wednesday or Friday morning shoots, but again, the max airgun caliber allowed is .25 caliber.

There are .22 rimfire benchrest practices and matches on various weekends at the MPR, hosted by Diablo rod and gun.

I run airgun competitions 2 X a month at the MPR, and when we are not locked down, host an indoor 10 meter event every other Friday night during the spring.

We have classes for Springers, both full power and sub 12 ft/lbs. There is usually 15-30 minute practice periods before each match to get that final tune in before competing, but there isn't time to dope an entire string or do a more in depth work up on a gun. We have both rifle and pistol classes in both events as well. There isn't general practice allowed during the matches.

The USI waiver must be signed biannually and there is a short in person training for use of the MPR, while the Public 100 yard range has their safety training online. https://unitedsportsmen.com/waiver/

The people at the Diablo Wednesdays and Friday's events are really good people and a great place to start!

We are petitioning USI (the owner of the range- there are 5 clubs that co own the range under that parent- Diablo is one of those 5 clubs) to allow us to hold a .22 and airgun precision practice every Saturday, 8:00 to noon.

The 4th Saturday of the month is a .22 benchrest competition and airgunners are allowed to compete.

We call the practice sessions "Precision" as we need shooters to be comfortable with their equipment. We are not prepared to support a grandparent bringing a young child out for their first few shoots, at these practices, for example.

We have other youth and new shooter experiences for that type of support.

Getting volunteer RSO's every Saturday is difficult and we use the minimum necessary to host a safe event with experienced shooters.

Not sure of your flexibility, but the mid week events are very cool, and the shooters very friendly.

We've all types, young & old, PCP and pump up guns. Just a bunch of people enjoying their hobby.

FT Matches are the 3rd Sunday of every month, 8:30 am seetup, 9:00 am for a little practice and then the match. You can come out to a match knowing nothing, partner with one of our friendly competitors, and come out knowing so much- hands on learning is the best. 20 ft lb limit for air guns, .22 cal and below.

We do have loaners but they are Diablo Rod and Gun club rifles.

Thanks,

Quick admin update on Silhouette- we now have setup at 8:30 am, with practice starting at 9:00 am. Both FT arnd Silhouette matches are $10 for members, $15 for non members. Diablo Club members get free air tank refills, plus we have a club air tank at the match for your use.

I believe membership is only $35 a year- if you have an air tank, imagine getting a year's free filling of it for only $35.00.. Tons of other benefits, but one big downside- you'll get hooked and end up with closet full of shooters....
