Airgun Shooting bench?

Here are the 2 bench's that I built, had the room so the tops are 48x48x3/4 ply. The bench top is big enough to set all your support gear on it and still have lots of room for your rifle or pistol box. The legs are treated 4x4 bolted to the treated 2x4 frame. The top was then screwed down. The bench doesn't wobble or twist. I did not make the seat part of the bench as I have found that as you move around on it will cause the table to move. The picture was taken before they were painted.

I have 2 stable tables. I could easily make a solid table from wood, but too permanent for me.
Where the stable table comes in handy is if you want to move the table. It disassembles in seconds, and can be easily moved. Doesn’t happen often, but it does , for me.
One has a plastic top, the other wood, which I have to keep covered from moisture. They have a decent appearance. Good luck, Crow.
I had two, gave the lighter one with plastic top away. I simply did not have a place for two. The br model has a wood top and each leg has a leveling adjuster which I needed due to a not so level area where it must sit. I do notice it is much heavier and sturdier than the earlier model.

I don't have this one but it looks nice.
Looks rather expensive. I think one similar could be made for far less. Have a local metal working/welding shop make some steel legs and a rotating seat mount. A few holes drilled through for seat height adjustment, and then a top of either plywood or heavy boards jointed and glued together, Here I could probably make one for a third that cost, maybe less.

Yeah, that’s a lot of money. I’m not real keen on the plastic coated expanded metal. I guess it’s nice it won’t let water puddle but you will always need to remember to bring a rug or rubber top or something. The main thing I don’t care for is that the seat is not adjustable in and out, it’s just adjustable up and down.

Looks nice. Could turn one 90 degrees and have a model for a left handed shooter.

Because of construction I've been temporarily shooting off a cheap, wobbly, plastic Walmart folding table on my porch and rear deck. With construction done and the table wobbly and sagging I'm ready to make something better. I want something with a smooth top but some grip. Concrete my preference, is probably too heavy unless I make it very thin. I'm thinking a plywood top but this will be in the weather and I'm concerned about delamination. Perhaps sealing marine plywood?
Any suggestions? What do you use for a permanent outdoor airgun bench?

Thanks
Ron
If you have a spot in your house or garage that will allow you to shoot out a window... try making a drop down or fold up shooting table.
This is obviously not a portable design....but when it's 102 degrees outside and 100% humidity i don't want to be out side.

The one shown works excellent... My design allows the single leg to level by screwing it in or out.

Recently i learned that if I am using a shooting bench for Bench Rest it needs more than one spindle leg for stability... perhaps 2 and probably even a strap to the floor = why you might ask? Well when you are really working on trying to figure out just how tight a group you can shoot, even the slightest jiggle or pulse or breath can move you ever so slightly off your hole on hole.. see last pic.
What is not immediately obvious by the last picture, is that the gun drilling the 1/8" squares is a TM1000X which can literally punch hole into hole at the 30 yard benched mark with no wind; unless of course the table can jiggle even a mouse whisker when you breathe or your heart pounds ....then the hole pattern looks like the one is this last pic...
Again, it doesn't matter = unless it matters to you.

This is what I use, year round, and I leave it out doors, year round. Its a great table, light, and if you need to move it, fold it up and move it. Right now its on sale for dirt cheap.

I have a cheap 10 dollar folding table from walmart that I put all my gear on, that too stays outdoors.

In the pic the stable table looks small but that howitzer on it was LONG haha

I love that single rifle wall bracket. 👍

I shot for years off a "Workmate", a cheap, folding workbench. 3/4 ply top screwed to a 2X4, clamped by the bench.

I'm currently set up on my tablesaw (very steady)...with ~17m to the target/trap in the car bay. However, I will be building a portable bench soon to take to the local outdoor range. I like 3/4" black iron pipe for legs, 3/4" ply top with a 2X4 grid underneath for support/flatness. Good exterior grade paint is all it needs. Common threaded sockets for the legs, unscrew and load up for home.

Marine ply is very $$$$$ , i would use 2x6 or 2x8 edged and glued to make a top , then several coats of marine deck varnish OR just had that pic in my file , in reality to heavy . I bought "Used scraps" of Marine ply at a pontoon boat repair place from re-decking jobs 2 ft. x 4ft. pieces for small amount $ . three coats of marine Spar Varnish and 8 years later as row boat seats out in the weather Still holding together .View attachment 544816
Wow, what a great idea.
