I have an off-grid cabin where I would like to store airguns for small game hunting. It isn't climate controlled., so, it's sometimes freezing and sometimes hot and humid. Will an airgun survive these climate extremes? I don't have one yet, but, would a PCP gun be more or less likely to survive? Thanks.

Probably get rusted. Buy a cheap gun like a $164.99 Benjamin Maximus Hunter from Crosman with 25% AGNATION discount code and free shipping when you order it FRIDAY morning. They got really cheap spinner targets on clearance and suggest buying a lot of them too.
Keep in mind whatever stored in a secluded unattended location may get stolen at any time you never know these days so keep it cheap.
Even buying a rusted good shooting gun painted camo would be a suggestion.

This has come up before. IMO, PCPs are currently incredibly poor choices for any type of off-grid, survival, or long-term storage type of scenario.
If you need off-grid/long-term storage for guns, a powder burner properly greased and the appropriate ammo is the best choice. Proven to last for decades in all conditions and still go bang when you need it to.
I love airguns too, but for off-grid/survival type things...nope.

Hey buddy. I would suggest a Benjamin 392.it has a bronze barrel so no rust there. You will have rust on some parts that are metal but with good oil it should be survivable. If you have a gun safe that could fix that problem. You can also store your gun in a plastic zip lock sleeve or however it closes. If you store it like that and we'll oiled before putting it in you should be fine even with a pcp

I have a hunting cabin in Northern Michigan. It’s only heated when I go up there. I use to leave a Benjamin Disco and a Maximus there year round. They will and do rust even with good oiling. With temps between 80 and -20, condensation is a problem. I have found them to loose pressure just like a tire in cold temps. I also stashed a hand pump there too. But it sucked having to fill from 0. Nice thing about the PP750 or Prod is it is small and easy to take with you each trip. I now leave a barn gun (.22 rimfire) there. It is hidden in a fake wall safe. If it gets rusty, it’s not big deal. With a little oil and barrel cleaning, I know it will shoot. What ever you do, don’t put it in a cloth gun case. It will hold moisture and rust the rifle worst.

If you must go with an air rifle look at some of the magnum springers. Properly lubed and stored with dissicants in an air tight bag or tube they should last as long as a firearm. You won't have the power of even a rimfire rifle (Spartan is right) but you will have something which should make small game into meat quietly.

Thanks. I also keep a .22 lever gun and a single barrel 12 ga. I just like the idea of having an air gun there. It's quiet and I can store tons of pellets without taking up a lot of space. I just don't know a lot about airguns so I didnt know if there was something about an air rifle that would make storing it in an environment like that a bad idea. As far as rust, I've had good luck with silicone treated sleeves.

Would throwing in some dessicants not help there?
I was thinking of getting some soft cases, but if they are death to a gun, I won't. But it's really that bad?

I am with Dingfelder, A LOT of desiccant and a vacuum bag , but I also would not leave an expensive item in such a place.

I don’t know how hard it would be to just bring it with you when you go up there? I am sure you have your reasons, but I would look into overcoming those obstacles instead. I don’t know where you are, but I don’t think transportation would pose any legal issues.

Your best bet might be a nitro-piston break barrel airgun. Cheap enough and just fine for small game. If you already store a lever action, an airgun should be fine long term.
