Thanks for taking the time to do our monthly match report mark!

You are so good at this kind of thing!

I appreciate that, Steve. It is not difficult, it is just telling the story. I have seen your posts and responses "elsewhere" and you are good at it. Cole also does and outstanding job and I am sure others within the club can do the same thing. I make notes on the back of my scorecard so I don't forget stuff.

BTW, did you calculate distances and KZ sizes to determine a Troyer factor? Let me know if you did.

thanks. MK

Great job Mark. Thank you.

...............did you calculate distances and KZ sizes to determine a Troyer factor? Let me know if you did.

The distances are written on my score card. Between Colben and I, I shot first and he was writing down the range that my scope was coming up with so that he knew the distances when it was his turn to shoot. So, you can look at that score card for distances of each target, but I can't help you with KZ sizes for the Troyer calculation.

Hey Cole,

Yeah, I saw them, and most make sense, but without KZ sizes, it would be next to impossible to reconstruct. I do remember the 1" KZ at about 46 yards. The javalina set next to the tree in the deep shadows probably had paint on the paddle when you shot it, but by the time we got to it, we could not even tell where the KZ was located. Mike, Gene, Bobby and I all missed that one twice. Range guesses were anywhere from 44 to 52 yards. We just could not see it clearly. Definately a challenging course for us mere mortals, but for you, well......... Nice to have young eyes.

Can't wait for Colben to start cleaning your clock as he grows up. Your son looks like he is having so much fun, too.

Checked the scope; out of stock.

Even though Colben was Freestyle and COULD have used a rangefinder, we did it that way (ranging with my scope) so there wasn't the question of me having a rangefinder on my person during the official match. Although, we shot through afterwards and both used the little Veteran bullpup and I shot another 48/48. We did grab the rangefinder from my truck and used it that second (unofficial) time through the course though. I was on cloud nine after that last shot. I doubt that I ever go 96/96 again on field targets in my life. I was getting really lucky with the wind too, it was fortuitously laying down to almost nothing on all of my far shots. The stars just lined up for me on Saturday. Colben's 7 year old attention span was getting a little thin on the second time through and I think he finished with a 20/48, which is still better than I thought he'd be doing this young.

Anyway, fun weekend, thanks for the write-up and all the time and effort you put into making the matches happen and keeping the club running smoothly.

(That razorback in the shadows had a bunch of ground cover sticking up in the way at various distances between the lane marker and the target. I'm thinking that deflection is what caused trouble for folks on that one, really had to pick a hole through the brush and poke it through there. Although, that one at 9.5 yards on lane 12 was also hairy, not having a scope click value-had to guess that it need 4 more 1/8moa clicks than my 10yard data.)

OK, when did Colben turn 7??? Last month he was 6. Did he have a birthday between then and now? If so, tell him we all said Happy Birthday.

Yeah, there was a little bit of grass in the way here and there, and yes, I did get an earful, ,but that happens every month. Everybody gets the same handicaps. It is just how you adapt and overcome. You and Steve and a few others did not seem to have a problem, so all is good.

There was one closer target that had a fork shaped blade of grass, shifting back and forth, right in line with the killzone that was driving us nuts. it was about halfway to the target and just barely visible in the scope. I held in between the forks and nailed it both times. Bobby saw it, nailed it once and did something other than hit it the second shot. Stuff like that still evokes laughter and makes the game fun. it is part of the "field" in field target. Glad you had a good time. Excited that you did it twice in the same day wtih different guns. Somebody was smiling on you.......this time. Don't let it get in your head. You did it once, you can do it again. Great shooting!!!
