AirMaks Arms Airmaks Katran L in the house

Been doing some reading on these rifles and by pure luck, saw a used, wooden stocked Katran L on UA website. Ordered last Friday, Katie arrived today and all I can say is wow! It's one fine rifle. I've had a chance to shoot it some and it's pretty amazing. Anyone else got one?
Yours is .177 right? I looked at that beauty for the last couple months. Katran LB shoots 23g Javelin slugs lights out, and devastating. I bet 13g jsb KOs will do amazing things in that L.

Yeah, .177 and holy cow!! is it accurate. It's shooting 10.5gr Crosman bulks at just over 915fpt and I was simply amazed. I went out today, terrible day, raining and gusty winds, and I shot from the garage 30 meters Crosman's 5 shots at 10X with Hawke Airmax 4-12X set at 10X. I just ripped them off without any regard to conditions as I didn't think I could dope anything in this weather, turns out I didn't need to.

I know it's said a lot, but I'm pretty impressed with this rifle. I've shot three different pellets in it, JSB 8.44, Crosman 10.5 and I can't remember the other one right now, and all shot fantastic, not just good, but really good! The trigger on mine is as near perfect as you can get, probably 10-12 ounces and crisp. Rifle is built like a tank, feels really good in the hand. Every machine operation is perfect. I just hope I'm not jinxing it, because it's sooooo good. I didn't think I'd be into tactical or bullpups, but this and my Brocock Sniper are really great guns, but this one is ahead of the Sniper in almost every detail.

I also wanted to give a shout out to Utah Airguns. I had heard some grumbling about them. I text and then called about the rifle, which I was unfamiliar with, and had all my questions answered courteously. They were very helpful and patient. I ordered the rifle on Friday and had tracking on Monday and rifle in hand on Thursday. I was told when I ordered that they would be checking it out before shipping, which made me wonder how long it would take to ship, but it didn't matter.
I'm completely sold on UA and will be ordering again. I am also sold on Airmaks too.

I did have one very slight misgiving. There is no returns on airguns (even used ones) at UA. This makes buying an unknown gun kind of a shot in the dark. There's no way I could have had any prior experience with Airmaks other than buying one. They assured me any problems that could arise, they would fix, so I felt somewhat comfortable. In contrast I know AOA has noooo problem with used returns. I'm probably the only guy on earth who never bonded with the HFT500:)

That is a good looking rifle. I do like the look of the tube version of the bottle version. I really like the look of that buttstock over the factory setup. I need to get me one of those stocks

There is a good reason for that. Buyer’s remorse. There could be nothing wrong with a gun and somebody who figured out too late they should not spend the money or found another gun they want more or some other flakey reason would return guns all the time.
Taking back merchandise is expensive with no hope for the profit lost on the sale or the cost of processing a return to get recouped.
Say somebody bought a brand new gun and just decided they didn’t want it for whatever reason. It gets sent back and now with nothing wrong with it, the dealer is now stuck with a used gun that will have to be sold for less than 80% of it’s new value and of course the original buyer will want/demand a full refund. If they don’t get that they will be here telling everyone what a bunch of jerks UA is.
The warranty is on the gun maker. They are the issuing party for the warranty not the dealer. Therefore, defective guns that are under warranty have to be dealt with by the factory or an authorized agent.

Yeah, not knocking them, and I'm only talking about used airguns, you just don't know what you're getting til you see it. I do believe and understand new guns can't be returned, but it does make you wonder about why not used. But hey, it's a moot point, I love the Katran. If fact they couldn't get it back if they wanted it! And I can't say enough good about Utah Air, I'll be buying from them again, no doubt. After having three scams in a row, I'm through with buying on American Airguns Classifieds unless I know the seller. I had sold an air rifle, and had some money, looking for a Crown, but couldn't fine a good deal, or even a new one in stock, and I decided to peruse the used guns on a couple of airgun stores online and came across the Katran. I knew nothing about them and until I talked with a UA salesman, had not even heard of them. I've had AA, Weihrauch, Daystate, Brocock, Walther, Anschutz, Crosman, FX, and Theoben pcp rifles, and had never even heard the name Airmaks. I'm here to tell you, they're right there with the best of the best. Workmanship and execution are absolutely first rate.

I've had a chance to do a quick chrony test of the katran using the new Crosman Single Die 10.5 gr .177 pellets. Looks really good.
AVG 914
HI 917
Lo 909
ES 8
SD 2.5
FPE 19.5
That comes out to a %ES of 0.00875 !!!!! Pretty darn amazing.
I've had a chance to shoot 7.33gr, 8.44gr and 13gr JSB pellets, Crosman bulk and Single Die pellets, and some H&N. For some reason, none of my guns like H&N. I just have some odds & ends that I keep to try to see if a gun likes them, but so far, I can't wait to run out of them. Everything shoot really well (except H&N), even the 7.33, which I know were hitting over 1000fps. The Benjamin (I keep saying Crosman, but same company) Single Dies are my favorite so far. Hitting eggs at 50 yards is easy. I'll have to do some more distance shooting, but I'm liking the Katran.

I'm getting the same velocity from both Crosman bulk and Single Die, so my next step will be to see the accuracy difference. I can get a deal on the bulk, while the SD is $15@500 if bought in groups of four tins at PA.

Just saw this and have been shooting the Katran a lot. It will NOT disappoint in any regard. It is ACCURATE and powerful. I've not had a single problem and I can drag it out and shoot and no change in impact.
I guess it says it all when I said, "they couldn't get it back if they wanted it" and that still holds true.

I'm sorry I didn't see the Brocock reply asking for into. Long story short, the Sniper HR I have is amazing and it's another gun I probably won't get rid of. It just works on every level, powerful, accurate, feels good, good shot count. I did toy with selling it, as I have too many .22's, but I just can't let it go. With .22's in Royales (2), HW100FSB, and Katran, I think I have enough .22's, and I can't let any go. That's why the Katran is .177. If it had been a .22, I'd have missed out on a great gun. Waaaaiiiiiittttt, I might need one more .22 :)
